Worst signing of the season

A joke to put Ozil in that list when he might give Arsenal their best season in 9 years. Lamela is without doubt the worst signing for me. Others on the list Felaini and Ozvaldo.

What I posted on other thread.

So you think the signing of Ozil was pivotal in them stumbling across the 4th place finish line and perhaps winning an FA Cup?

I'm basing it on what I've seen so far and Ozil has disappointed me, I saw a lot of him at Madrid and I thought his early performances would see him push Arsenal towards the title but he's gone off the boil in January, at the same time as Arsenal have, and never really returned.
Yes I do. Without Ozil they would have not gotten in the top 4, not got out of the group and certainly not have a chance of winning the FA cup. He was instrumental in beating the Liverpool clubs and getting them through the group. He has faded a bit, because he was overused and tired, but I see none of the same criticism for Negredo here. Ozil is in his first season and adjusting to a new league. He has had a decent season, but everyone wants to jump on his back.

Plenty to choose from in my opinion. I guess you could pick most of the spurs signings.

Personally I've been really disappointed in Soldado, I actually thought Spurs had got a great deal when they signed him but he's been so poor and doesn't fit in with spurs style of play at all.

Other poor signings that have struggled Paulinho, Lamela, Ozil, Willian (30 million?) but they are all based on the money spent.

A strange one has been Kone at Everton, not the best striker about but did well at Wigan and Everton signed him for £5 million and he's hardly kicked a ball.

So who do you think has been the worst signing of the season? Who's really disappointed you? Who did you expect more of based on what you had seen previously?

He's injured. Long-term knee injury!

Down to injuries obviously but if he'd signed for someone else Jovetic would probably be getting a mention I would think.

Fellaini, Kevin de Bruyne, Iago Aspas and Cissokho, Soldado, Capoue, Altidore, Kallstrom, Zaha, Fabio, Razvan Rat.

Oh and thiago, fabregas and sneijder haven't been great either.

But they got in the top 4 without him last season and apart from Ozil it's pretty much the same team as last season.

I'm not saying he's been poor or that he's not a great player, I'm just saying I expected more of him from what I saw of him at Madrid.

I agree about the first season tiredness that a few players seem to get but for the money spent I think wenger was hoping to get a bit more than 4 months out of him before he hit a brick wall.

Harsh to put Thiago and De Bruyne on that list. Both are still young and for the future. Whilst I think Thiago was a pointless signing and no where near as good as the media make out; for his first season in a new league his actual performances have not been bad enough to deserve a place. A bit early to put De Bruyne on that list when he has a shot of making fourth and winning a cup for Wolfsburg.

I imagine Kroos, Gundogan and Cavani will probably be on next seasons disappointment list :)

That was last season. Teams improved and they would not have got out of the group or made fourth. I am not saying Ozil has been worth his 40 million, but he has done a decent job for his first season. I would expect more next season. If Wenger wanted more then he should have rested him more often.

Mkhitaryan probably deserves a mention too.

I think you've missed the joke about Thiago, you know the one who's boyhood dream it was to play for the rags.

LOL. Yeh I get it now. Well you cannot say they have made any mistakes for their new club at least. I think it's fair to say they have been far too invisible in games. I cannot remember them contributing anything of note. I guess it's hard to stand out when 27 million pound superstar Felaini catches the eye.
