Would Kinkladze get into this side?

Without much hesitation, I would say yes, he would not only get in the team, he would be one of our star players.

For the argument about how is workrate wouldnt be up to the required standard for todays team, that maybe so - I prefer to think that the team he was in back then had 10 other players that he carried offensively so was of the mindset that he wasnt gonna do their work defensively as well. Who knows what his workrate would be when surrounded by other quality players prepared to put a shift in.

For me Kinky was the best I have ever seen (before our recent crop) in our shirt by an absolute mile, and im certain he would have excelled in the team today

My word there is some bollocks written on here, if the likes of Garcia can get into the team then Kinky would walk in with the abillity he had. He would be a bit different from what we already have and I think a perfect fit.

Key difference: Garcia doesn't compete with Silva and Nasri for a place.

Agreed but you have to admit he had god given talent.

Without a doubt, he was an incredible talent and just because he was surrounded by shit it shouldn't take away the fact he was brilliant.

I'm interested to know what people think. I've heard people say Kinky would walk into this team. I've heard people say he's the best player City have ever had.
I disagree. For me, while he had a great individual talent and ability, would I really swap Silva for him? Not in a million years. His career was defined at City and nosedived when he left. Good player yes. Good enough for this side? No.
What are your thoughts?

Kinky was great at that time. But can you imagine him playing on the pitches of today and interacting with players of the calibre of Silva, Nasri and Aguero?

I think he may have been even BETTER in today's City Team.

Could not have put it better myself.

Most definitely, mate. Loved him.

i'd like to think he would get into the side today. He is the main reason i started supporting City.

I first saw him when Georgia came to the old Arms Park and played Wales is a European Championship qualifer in 1994. He was in a league of his own that day, Lobbed neville southall from 25 yards and totally ran the show. He then wiped the floor with us in the return leg scoring twice when wales lost 5-0. It doesnt mean much i suppose beating Wales for we are crap i know!

But Neville says that that performance in cardiff was the best individual performance he had ever seen against him, and when you think of the number of years Big Nev was in top flight football, i take that as a massive compliment towards Kinky.

On his day he was virtually unplayable.

On ability alone he would walk into this team but whether he had work ethic and discipline to play in a top side (at City) we will never know.

Will always be my all time City favourite player. A completely selfless act, when his star was shining brightest, to follow us to the abyss when the club was falling apart.

He brightened many a depressing afternoon and as much as I like the current crop of players they we would be gone in a shot if a similar situation occurred.

The nearest comparable current player in terms of skill and style on the ball is Edin Hazard.

Off the ball Kinky did not compare. Players only have a few minutes on the ball in a game. Kinky's low workrate alone would make him a passenger so unlikely to be part of the squad. Silva, Nasri and even Aguero are equally as skilled and look at their positional awareness how hard they work for the team.

Kinky could have been a top top player but never fulfilled his potential. It requires a special mentality as well as talent. He wouldnt walk into the current City squad but who knows how he would have developed if he joined the current City squad as a young player.
