Would the league on its own be regarded as a failure?

no. it seems that some people undermining in what type we winning league this year. it is not 2012 title with miracle last minute goal or 2014 title with slippery and crystanbul. those were stories with emotions. this year's is about domination. it is league trophy in which we achieved 18 consecutive wins, got very impressive victories against top-6 sides and our manager humiliated old-school english football and destroyed myth about mighty and competitive best league in globe. and he did that by promoting his scientific football innovations as tactician-ball-playing keeper in terms of ederson, midgets dominating powerful opposition players and so on. we are 27-16 points ahead of old sky top-4. with current league campaign brand of our club is extremely increased as winning club with technical football. and most important we have big chance to surpass mourinho's 95 point chelsea this year. break points record in premier league history. it is not ordinary league title.

Anyone that thinks winning the title on it's own is failure needs to look at the shite we had to put up with all through the 80's 90's and the first ten years of the 21st century. My fist city game was 1984 and the highlight
( other than numerous promotions ) until 7 years ago was the full members cup final. Never thought I'd see city win the title, never mind being on the verge of a 3rd

Give me only the league title every season and I’m happy.
Champions League is just a glorified cup at the end of the day.
League means everything.
couldn't agree more. CL is more important to the owners, but winning the league is my aim every season. Win Sunday and it's a superb season.

At the start of the season the league was no1 for all of us,anything else was/is a bonus, but when you get to a stage of the season where you are 16 points clear in the league, final of league cup, virtually guaranteed quarter final spot champions league, and an away tie to third tier team in fa cup with a home tie for the winner next round (quarterfinals)it’s a huge chance missed,we can still pick up two cups but the Domestic treble was absolutely on and it’s not every year you have a chance to be in a situation like this, but it’s still a huge achievement if we end up with just the league, but possibly tinged with what if ...edit totally ignore this post if we do win the league cup and champions league as well...

Not a failure, just a great shame for a side who have been so outstanding. I think a double would mark a very successful season, but a treble would be a huge achievement.

I think we should be striving for at least two trophies and I’d say anything else would feel like a failure. We want a winning mentality, a winning culture where we should be expecting to win every game. That’s how the biggest clubs operate.

If we go on to win the league it won't be regarded as a failure, we've played some incredible stuff this season, broken many records and we may get a few more yet before the season is out.

The media however, have bigged us up to knock us down. From them talking about us challenging for the quadruple they can now talk about the prospect of us 'only' winning one trophy.

I think Sunday's game is huge for us, a chance go get a trophy on the board early on and kick on in the other competitions!
