Would the UK ever "revolt"

Ideally, I'd like to see all roads privatised. I'd rather pay a 'subscription' to use the roads I use than payout for roads I never use.

But, to your question, will the UK ever revolt? I think the British public would only revolt if the government went around killing people (but even then we'd probably say it's for our own good) or if the government banned the X Factor (yea, I think this would do it)

The capitalists would never let it happen - Maybe a few small riots, local protests, but nothing on a large scale. Just enough for people to let off steam, then go back to Corrie / Emmerdale / Take me out etc.

All the government would need to do is threaten to bring back conscription for all 17 to 25 year old males and bob's your uncle.

UK wont revolt too many people just dont care get a bit annoyed and then take it up the ass. Its what we do as a nation.
In all honesty road things dont bother me but then i dont drive although i understand drivers are getting fucked i dont drive and the missus gets £600 a month to run her car so it doesnt affect us. I know it does hurt people. It directly hurts the employment of some of my family but i also know they will moan and then get on with it. Stiff upper lip and all that

-- Mon Mar 19, 2012 10:40 pm --

Privatising the roads and charging more for it would make me less than happy.

but when will enough be enough, in your opinion? cos i think they are taking the royal fucking piss to be honest!
I wouldn't "revolt" as we have a process for change that doesn't include acting like toddlers at bed time.

In a nutshell no,the passivity of the general English populace would be greatest deterrent.
Though if Coronation St.,Eastenders,Emmerdale,X Factor,Celebrity Big Brother,Masterchef, were put on pay per view I may amend my views.
The goverment are trying to privatise the NHS by the backdoor, allowing multinationals to take the piss,in regards to paying the tax they owe,and spunking money on the Olympic games, whilst talking about cutting peoples take home pay according to their geographical location.
Yet still we have not a peep, apart from a few nasty letters to the Guardian.

Yep, let's face it, we've had far less popular governments in charge, it just that when they are of a left persuasion, those unhappy wait for the election rather than talk up riots.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. ... God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion; what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms." -- Thomas Jefferson

Tom had the right idea
