Would you miss MOTD?

Heard a rumour that the bbc might be dropping it to save money. I used to regard it as an institution but now it just seems like a home for retired bitter ex-pro's with their own agendas. I wouldn't be bothered if it was scrapped in it's current format.

It is an institution, but it's fucking dire at times. Not so much the coverage, which is always good, but the punditry is bobbins. It's one of those though, I would hate to not have it there to look forward to on a Saturday night because as good as football first is, I like to see parts of all the games which obviously MOTD provides. It needs a revamp though, that is for certain.

They cut far too much for you to get a real sense of the game, and sometimes miss out what I would consider key moments. I don't really value their pundits views either, for every good comment there are several bad or lazy ones. It surely is hard to give balanced, but entertaining, impartial views but sometimes, whether it be the pundits or the highlight planners, they seem to not even try.

I sometimes catch it on a Sunday morning if the baby has me out of bed early, otherwise it was deleted from our Sky planner long ago. I think that the future of football highlights is only going one way - full matches on playback where you will eventually be able to play a choice of the full match, only goals, shots on goal, key moments, after-match comments and discussions etc etc, and for that Sky is in prime position and the BBC is far, far behind.

Incredible though to think that the BBC may be dropping it completely, given the interest and money associated with football in this century.
I did feel like their recent live from Salford Boys' Club, whilst great to see them there, smacked of someone changing things and trying something new out of sheer desperation, and not to show off their new locality as was reported.

Personally yes because its somthing to look forward to when i get in on saturday and sunday. The pundits are overall shite but i ignore them as much as i can and watch what im watching it for, the football :D

I'd be much happier with a televised version of the legends that used to be on century fm. They could concentrate on north-west football, show the highlights and talking points of the matches and then discuss/argue/fight over any divisive incidents. Plus it was always funny when people used to wind up that fucking moron mickey thomas.

I wouldn't miss it because of the points that other people have mentioned above but do you think maybe, just maybe, this a ploy by the BBC to highlight the cuts being made and cause some sort of public outcry?

Considering how much money the BBC pays for Premier League highlights, they make a really shit job of how they're presented and analysed

if it was accessible (without a sky sub aka for the masses) to just watch the match highlights then there would be no need for MOTD.
Maybe via the interactive menus or at the moment don't Yahoo provide this?

But surely middleaged disposable income shite such as Top Gear would be going first if there was money cutbacks?
I mean what's really classed as a public service: providing football results (which a majority of the nation participate in) or showcasing some flash cars most of us would never afford to buy

no.... it s got this crap mock type intro into everything -all it s missing is canned laughter!!

the pundits are crap..... not seen mark or alan smile in years.

bar keown.... i think they are all gash!

p.s. maybe i ve forgotten some good ones on it.... no to answer the question!

I've not watched it for years, with the introduction of Sky, Internet etc never really felt any need to stay up and watch mostly a load of arses with an axe to grind or lick arse of their favoured teams, back years ago we had little choice.
