I thought there was a FA ruling that all contracts had to have a 25% relegation clause to protect clubs financially and thus applied to all premier league contracts that don't expire at the end of the current season. Could be wrong but that was my understanding.

As for the squad, 1st team will be out. Even those that arrived in January. Its simply not sustainable, that amount of players, on high wages, in the championship.

The only worry is, that with a clearout, you disrupt the team harmony, not that we have much at the moment, which is why a Leeds, Leicster, Man City etc could happen.

Whoever takes over for next season, if we go down, needs to be a very shrewd business man, a proper Roy Hodgson, as they'll need to replace 15 odd players on high wages.

I hope so, we should be able to afford getting back out of the championship."

if we gave owen his final pay cheque he'd only gamble it all away

begged benitez to come back to liverpool then signed for newcastle for 10 grand a week more, he's lost the plot and wouldn't touch him with a barge pole

bye bye toon bye bye barton -enjoy doncaster

I don't mind Newcastle, but the thought of Owen trundling around the Championship because no-one else wants him is highly amusing. It'd be even funnier if Shearer stayed on as manager.

Steve Bruce and Harry Redknapp are rubbing their hands at the prospect of taking some mediocre shite off Newcastle's hands when they go down. Wheeler dealer dickheads like those two and a few others will be interested, but I pray Hughes won't be.

Wouldn't take any of them.

I did laugh at the 'let's swap big Phil, a young striker with bags of potential and a one of the best goals per games started records in our whole squad, for a 32 year old striker who can't score for shit' statement.

I wouldn't touch any of them with a barge-pole...

I've never seen such a slow team in the top division! Has-Beens FC...

Also I wouldn't put a penny into their coffers, let the Best Fans In The World TM sort it out...

I wouldn't touch any of them. Surely we must be setting our sights higher than that load of relegation fodder.
Not only wil they shed players, but watch their attendances plummet too!!!

Best fans in the world my arse...

When they relegated again next season, lets see them average 28,000.

F**K em
