Did Prescott not say that he would turn down a Knighthood?

and look what happened!

John Prescott is not a Knight.

áha my learned friend I stand corrected.

What is it a peerage he got and he said he would never accept one due to his working man background and all that?

Depends, if it financially benefits you to have one then yes i would accept.

If not, dont see the point.

Letting some German octanginarian wave a sword around my head sounds a tad dangerous, so it would be a no from me.

Especially kneeling next to BimboBob in his full cross-dressing glory, looking like an extra from League Of Gentleman.
Although I suppose it would present the ultimate in upskirt celebrity shots if you could capture a hint of Windsor gusset.
Or maybe the kinky old biddy goes commando?

I wonder if the term 'the royal we' is actually the stench from the Windsor gusset?

I'd turn it down, politely of course.
Not got any time at all for the monarchy, so to accept an honour from them would go against that. On that basis I would say thanks but no thanks.

The peerage system is all about the powerful who run the country staying in charge. Not that I know any Knights but if ever meet one I will never call them 'Sir'.

woudln't that hinge on why they got a knighthood in the first place, if they got it for something worthy i would.

and i wouldn't turn one down either, as a 'commoner' if i was offered one i'd have to of done something pretty impressive, and if someone wanted to give me thanks for it that i could probably use, then yeah, i'd be all over it like a rash.

Sir tim Berners-lee is an example, he's worthy of a knighthood, without him where would you lot be chatting now etc,
