Liverpool put the effort in but we were absolutely atrocious today. Could hardly find another blue shirt with a pass. No energy, no control and no ideas. Woeful.
Has to start with a new manager.Massive rebuild has to happen
Funny how things looked better at the end of the match, when we put an effort in. These girl's are pissed off with Taylor.Has to start with a new manager.
I think the rebuild in terms of personnel hasn't been all that poor. I think losing the three we did wasn't the hole that I expected. Yui has done a remarkably good job in replacing Keira. Caroline Weir, apart from the games against the Ragettes always made me feel she was thinking of shipping out, and Bunny Shaw has provided goals we didn't get from Georgia, despite being club top scorer. All in all the team, on paper, seems as good as we had. Not as good, perhaps, when we had Izzy, Scotty and Toni D in the team. I haven't seen any footage of today's game but suspect it wasn't a lack of effort that did for us, more a decision or two at the wrong time, and the guy in the technical area. He never seems to be getting anything like the best out of the squad. We need a decent manager too though. We had a rebuild this year.
This is the kind of Keystone Cops football we used to see from a lot of women's teams which, over the years, have added an athleticism to their game which makes them difficult to break down, much like we saw yesterday with the men. But we have pace in our team, we have players with technique and we are seeing a game plan that makes it easy for humdrum, athletic sides to frustrate and get the better of us. This is the sort of result that loses us the likes of Hemp and Kelly. One of the most disappointing performances of the year. Summed up by 4 moments -
Coombs, with zero pressure on, passing back at an ideal pace for them to score
Roebuck wandering outside her box holding the ball unaware of where she was.
Taylor making a sub 7 mins into injury time (usually done to waste time from a winning position)
A fullback attempting a back pass from inside the Liverpool half booting it straight out for a corner.
This ladies and gentlemen is football Gareth Taylor style.
Hasegawa is a fantastic player, our best I think. Agree about the players brought in, on the whole they are very good. Once we went behind our play was slow and ponderous with the usual array of back and sideways passing. We didn't start to up the ante until approx the 80th min when it all got a little fraught. The goals we conceded were poor defensively, the first was gifted to them. Yes the chap in the technical area does not seem to bring out the best in those he is working with.I think the rebuild in terms of personnel hasn't been all that poor.
