WSL Arsenal (A) 05/11/23:

Saw most of second half and can’t understand why Keating is playing when we have 2 international goalies not playing - are they injured! Also, apparently she burst into tears which just shows his young she is.
Tbf, she's been pretty good so far this season and deserved her call-up to the England squad. Her handling has been excellent and seems to be a decent shot-stopper as evinced by the penalty save today. Just her kicking (especially when rushed) and her decision making on rushing out needs a lot of work. Today isn't the first time she's been caught out coming out to clear a hoof ball over the back line.

Yes but did Roebuck do something wrong?
No, I think Keating has been deemed a better fit.

She has beaten out two international keepers to be City's #1 she has played well all season, bad mistake today granted but also saved a penalty.

Yeah, the goalkeeper's lot. Mind, she did give the pen away so was honour bound to save it. But their second goal? You can believe it 'cos yer've just seen it but how it happens is just inexplicable.

Oh, it was a bad error and she knew, she left the pitch distraught, in some ways that isn't a bad thing, as it shows she cares and knows it was her error, hopefully, she will take that away and learn from it.
She's 18 and a lifetime away from her peak years, that's how good she could be.

I had a season ticket for 3 years and Roebuck better than what ive seen today from Keating, maybe a one off

You'd think that the coaches have seen what you've seen, eh??

Unless, like I've seen Roebuck not as good with her feet and quite indecisive at crucial times. I don't recall her ever coming for corners or crosses, for example.

We can't have keepers not controlling the pen area as Keating does. With said, she totally mistimed the bounce, but that happens with the best of keepers.

Complete lack of info as to why Ellie Roebuck has slipped down the line. She was injured. Saw her pre-match at one game at the Joie where she was doing some kind of half-hearted warm up but no idea why she hasn't appeared. Keating has been very good this season and well worth her starts, but what Taylor does about that I am very interested in the starting eleven for the next game. Perhaps Maciver!

I don't understand how misjudging a bounce warrants being kicked out of the team! Seemed to me, judging off the quick highlights at the end (I only managed the second half on catch up) she atoned for the pen before the error with the bounce. Other than that, I don't recall her giving any passes away with her distribution.

We wouldn't do that to Ederson, would we??

First time I've watched the ladies for years. By far the better team, they didn't deserve to lose.

Need a strong midfielder to link up quicker with and feed off Bunny Shaw imo. Too much expected of her today.

Totally agree with that as that's what I saw too. I'd have deployed Ruby Mace in mid, myself with her being defensive minded and brought back Stef Houghton to marshall the back line and get us up with her more direct through balls in tight lines.

Bottling management decisions.

A ball bouncing over yer 'ead is just one level away from chucking the ball in. It's a crass error, it shouldn't happen. It does, but it shouldn't happen in a professional league and when it does you wonder why it happens. Football is littered with goalkeepers dropping clangers and sitting the next game on the bench. She was also at fault with giving the pen away, and atoned with the save but two errors in one game. I've seen a lot of Kiara over the last couple of seasons and I've always felt there was a bloomer just waiting to get out. So far she'd avoided it with some very good performances but today was a shocker.

If Eddie let one in over his head then I would have to think long 'n hard. Ortega would ease the decision for a game.

True, but the error is made all the worse when yer've clawed yer way into the game, probably deserved the winner and then the rug is tugged out from under yer. It can be a cruel game but there's no room for sentimentality. She's a young lass and her judgement will be all the better for making the error, and the likelihood is that she will be our No! for many seasons to come, but we have two goalkeepers of whom I would speculate wouldn't have let that bounce over their head.
