WSL Aston Villa (A) 18/05/24:

Injuries and squad depth (and an uninspiring manager) have cost us this season. Never really in doubt that the title was going to Chelsea especially after they took just 2 minutes to score today. Happy for Steph that she actually got some game time to say goodbye though hopefully it's more of a farewell and she'll be back in some capacity in the future.

There's some places in the team that need an upgrade for next season and hopefully we can bring in the right calibre of player to help us move forward. Like the look of Blinkilde-Brown and really happy that Hemp signed her extension. Bit of a sad indictment that I can't seem to muster any enthusiasm as to whether Kelly stays or goes but she seemed to be just going through the motions for most of this season.

I think it's fair to say that we 'lost' that title as much as CFC won it! Over-passing, wasteful of the chances we get. Thirty shots to Villa's six, four times as many as Villa managed on target and into added time the game is on a knife edge.

There aren't the kind of Keystone Cop defences in the FAWSL as there once were, and teams can run all day. We get woman-marked and can't carve open defences to translate superiority of possession into goals. We need to be taking a few more risks in the final third instead of waiting for the 24carat chance.

But, having said that, I've seen some very entertaining football, and oh, how we have missed Jill Roord and Bunny when it needed to count.

Not a great performance but ultimately it came down to the Arsenal game and being 1-0 up with minutes left and only needing a point is the game we threw it away. Hopefully they learn from that and improve moving forwards and go again next year.
Had we buried Brighton at home as we should have done CFC would have been chasing us, and the 0-6 wouldn't have mattered one jot.

She might have been but her time has clearly gone. The football meedya still think she's untouchable, but the goals I saw go in at the Swamp were laughable.
As were the goals that she was letting in whilst winning the awards and plaudits, the name on her badge was all that was required and a desperate media willing to RAG it up for all they were worth.

It's not all doom and gloom with Champions League football achieved.

But let's hope it is a lesson learned in don't give teams like Chelsea a 2nd bite of the cherry,
Dominate teams in your league will hurt you every time and until you kill them off they never give up.

I am not Taylor's biggest Fan, But I think he got his and City's main aim in getting Champions League football
So he will be given more time and City can add some more better players and go again next season

Sadly it was over before today…… Arsenal game was our undoing in the end, but hey,
Let us get behind the Women’s Squad, and would love to see Steph involved next season.
Don’t go with the Champs League worth nothing….. worth a great deal for the development of the team, and have a feeling ( re visit this post at end of next season) we will kick on next year after the bitter disappointment…. With or without the present manager, who has probably had his day!!!!
The champs.league is worth far more than development of players. It adds.a huge amount of prestige.for the club and.ppayers.

Anything dodgy Dave, or just shite?
I think the Rags just couldn't be arsed today. They were never gonna put up stiff resistance if it meant us winning the title. Funny thing, though, that's five in a row for CFC and I've not heard one gob on the BBC mention that the FAWSL is boring.

Ragetttes lie down at the Swamp 0-6 after beating Chavettes in cup semi, Arsewipettes win a cup then pull their tripe out to beat us at the death, Chavettes rack up 14-0 in last two games. Laughable and taking the piss
Does it sound a little like a carve up of trophies to stop us winning one?
Still it wouldn't have mattered had we picked up one point at home to Brighton or the Arsettes.
Taylor is not a winner end of
