WSL Chelsea (H) 08/10/23:

The worst single refereeing performance I think I've ever seen, which is saying something.

Fair play to the girls, though, a gutsy performance and a draw probably harsh on us. If only Bunny had buried that one big chance.
Be telling her mates how she stuck it to the oil cheat’s tomorrow morning at Pilates

Nearly every dead ball results in stoppages exceeding 26 second which result in nothing. If she wanted to hurry Greenwood up she should have given a clear warning. It's pathetic vindictive refereeing.

Already down to 10 she had a choice to also warn Hemp that was her last one. Its not a guaranteed yellow at all, it's subjective and the refs choice.

Challenge on Hemp was a definite yellow, it was late, yet nothing when our players were booked for challenges less tardy with less damage.

As for the 5 mins extra time in extra time, That's impossible to account for apart from cheating.

I think we should be making a formal complaint to the WSL. It was a one eyed biased refereeing performance the like if which I have rarely if ever seen.

A gutsy performance from the team to hold out for so long after going down to 10 and then 9 players. God only knows what that ref had been drinking / smoking before the game. We were dead on our feet at the end which isn't a surprise. Feel gutted for them conceding so late on.
I would have locked the officials changing room and said we had lost the key.

Brilliant effort.

For those saying getting booked for dissent is stupid - it is, but we don't actually know what that dissent even was. It might have been 'aggressive walking'.

None of them seemed to be overly complaining, probably more asking what was going on, or maybe saying there was no need. Players have to be able to speak to refs, this one seemed to start booking players because they looked at her.

It was an embarrassing refereeing performance. Chelsea should be embarrassed at scraping a point considering how unbalanced the scales were. The WSL should be embarrassed that this ref is one of theirs.
I don't think there is a ton of "dissent" in the women's game at the best of the times. Looked to me like one player got booked for disagreeing with a corner decision and another for just trying to talk to the ref after her absurd first sending off.

I couldn't agree more! In all the years and all the games and all the whistling wankers who've turned up at The Academy/Joie Stadium this woman was 20000 leagues worse than the next worse. She was abysmal, wretched, dreadful and the fact that she didn't book the CFC player for the worst foul of the game on Lauren Hemp was evidence enough of her lack of even handedness. Eight added minutes, CFC scrambled the equaliser on 96+ and we played on till the 113th minute. Why? Keating went down with an injury and wasn't down for five minutes. I couldn't help think that she was desperate to give CFC another couple of attacks.

I never watch the full match replay but when it comes up I am gonna see just how long Alex G took over the free kick. If PL goalkeepers were getting booked for that amount of time wasting one or two would be sent off each week, and the majority of them playing for the opposition at The Etihad.

Chloe's goal was a cracker, Keating was immense, the whole team were heroic. Pity we didn't have a ref that was worthy of their efforts.

I'd write to FAWSL and tell them that that referee shouldn't be taking charge of a game anywhere and at any level, but I think I'd be wasting my time - I could get booked! I hope the club complain about her performance.

Here’s one…

Was that refereeing performance worse than the one against Spurs in 2021 with the handball goal?

If so, hats off to her, she’s done the impossible

Not even sure what to say about the state of the refereeing in that match and it's gutting to get that far into the game and let the goal in at the end. But, there's so many positives to be taken away. We played some brilliant football with 11 on the pitch, Mary Fowler looks to have carried her WC form into WSL (was a shame she had to be sacrificed after Alex's red) and I think we have a real star in the making with Keating. She pulled off some outstanding saves and handled the more straight forward stuff really calm and assuredly during an extremely chaotic game. Cant believe she's only 19. She also had a couple of back passes sent her way which were wildly over hit but managed to deal with it. Really excited to see how she comes on.

Oh yes we fucking can. Would a ref top team have suffered that and how often will the same be applied in future,
I can answer myself “no” and “never”
This is a match day complaint on my part on a regular basis - the greatest variation in the PL is the issue of yellow cards. The most uneven-handed aspect of what referees can sanctionfor similar incidents that follow on from the ref issuing a yellow are too often not addressed in the same way. That is how games can be and are manipulated - collect a handful and theirs game time lost, whereas other culprits can carry on playing next game 'cos all they were sanctioned with was a free kick.
