Akanji can get fucked with that. He may be right, but why say it publicly? Some blues are paying a fortune to go out there and watch it, the least the club can do is have the right attitude.

You'd think they'd want to get back to it ASAP anyway after the horror season, a chance to start a fresh.

As Khaldoon said, this is the start of the new season and not a continuation of last - yet a senior player is whinging about it before it's even started. Not just any senior player. One that spent a lot of the second half of last season injured.

Can't imagine the club are best pleased with the comments. Especially only a week or so after our chairman has been styling it as a good chance to get back to winning ways.
9 night trip is going to cost me around £5000. Akanji can fuck right off. Khusanov, Reis and Ake should be the starters for the group stages. Hope Akanji doesn’t see a minute of football.

He might be one of those who Bernard said he wouldnt want to go to war with.

If he has said that I am sure the club will fcuk him off, he could have refused the recent internationals if he wanted to protest not the organisation that has given him so much that he wont have to work again past his 35th birthday.

Akanji said what many others had been saying here for months, and suddenly it's Akanji who's being cheeky :D Akanji is saying the same thing that many others have said directly or indirectly about the CWC for months, including Pep and other players.

It's a tough situation—Akanji is with the national team, and how much time off will he get? A week? Then there’s the tournament, possibly running into mid-July, and a few weeks later the season starts again. It’s a unique situation, and that’s it. It’s good that there are critical voices.

I see that many people think that since Akanji was injured, he was resting. It doesn’t work that way. Rehabilitation from many types of injuries is more exhausting and tedious than training and playing matches.

The problem is that there are various parties all wanting supremacy here including the FA, EFL, EPL, UEFA, and FIFA. All want to promote their own tournaments involving clubs and countries.

Do clubs withdraw from the EFL Cup and the FA Cup to protest about fixture congestion? The European Championships and Nations Cup and the World Cups for international matches are not going to go away.

Meantime, City are involved in the World Club Cup between two congested seasons.

Over the Premier League era, the only change has been to reduce the number of League matches from 42 to 38. Other counties including France and Germany have a 34-match season. England, Spain and Italy remain on 38 matches.

City are the only English team involved with the EPL, the Champions League and the Club World Cup at this stage. Ok Chelsea were in the Conference League but largely used reserve players.

I can see why the concern is being felt by the players. But City do have a decent squad who could be used.

Akanji isn’t wrong but yeah he gets paid like crazy. There are other crazy jobs out there where people don’t make a living for life within 1-10 years depending who you play/ work for.
but it’s a good way to tell us that the squad needs to be big this season. The World Cup is coming and the Africa cup will be mid season too. Pep loves 19 players only but that won’t be enough this season. Especially when he barely subs.

The way we going this season. We need to involve the young CB‘s. They didn’t play as much last season and will be hyped to play for city. Looking at PSG I wouldn’t mind having all the younger CB as backups instead of someone like akanji.

Stones, Ajanji, Bobb, Rodri, Ake, Gonzalez, Grealish(if he stays) Foden. None of them have played a lot of football over this last season. Also the 2 centre backs we bought in January have had limited game time. Some have played with injuries, Stones, Akanji and Ake in early season.
I would think that all would want to play to get back fitness levels or to return to good form.
Dias, Bernardo and Gvardiol have all been slogged to death. They are the only 3 that need a rest.
I personally think Pep, although wanting to progress in the tournament, will use this tournament to play the new boys from January and the summer signings together with Rodri and Bobb and experiment a little. An extended pre season if ypu like.

Maybe if he had a couple of weeks off instead of playing for his country in a friendly then he wouldn't be moaning, plus he will have 3 weeks off after we win and he get a bonus before start of the season, let's hope we start with a proper left back, right back and a CD he have a couple of weeks off over there

its likely hes gonna be used smartly by Pep during CWC. We start with two relatively easy games, Juve is 26th of June. Great chance for new players, Reiss, Khusanov, Rico, O'Reilly. Maybe some players come to the USA for a knock outs phase or something. Especially those who plays much for nations like Dias, Bernardo, Akanji. On the other hand FIFA would be fuming if Haaland is not there since the beginning I guess.

Still point is people moan about Akanji moaning far too easy and without any effort to understand his reasons. When hes been injured hes not been on holidays. And he needs holidays, his body, his mind needs holidays. To perform better for us in the future.

As do I having worked for fuck all and scrimped every last penny to get out there for 4 days to support my club.

There's a time and a place for his moans and this was not it.

Edit - If he did say it of course!

When/where would have been the time/place for his moans then?

If we decide to go full strength to start strong

Think wing backs and narrow up top will be the plan next season a play on his Bayern days where a 4-3-3 could switc hto a 3-4-3 or 2-3-5 depending on play

That line up lacks a winger. Swap Nico for either Doku, Savinho or maybe Foden or Bobb. (Better still Rodrygo!) Also replace Nunes with a decent RWB asap of course.
