Didn’t Pep say that the players will have plenty of down time and that he’s taking his golf clubs? I think I read somewhere that the players wives and girlfriends are travelling.

I think Pep will use the tournament to integrate the new players and coaches. Hence its full strength. They’ll have plenty of time to work on formations and tactics but without the physical intensity of a normal preseason
 
If Stones and Ake are fit I think they will play in the opening matches. If only to establish that they are fit for prospective buyers
 
Pep should be able to use some rotation in these first two games, before playing his best team in the third game, as the Juve game should be the one that decides who wins the group and, hopefully, avoids Real Madrid in the next round!

Absolutely no reason to play Bernie or Ruben in the first game and a few mins in the second, at most, if he plans on playing them against Juve.
 
Warmed my heart when saw Stones, Ake. I hope they stay. Bar injuries, they been great for us and still could do great job when fit. Proper depth to have.

And then you have young guns Oscar Bobb, Echeverri, Reis, O'Reilly, Lewis all desperate to make impact I feel. Maybe couple of them starts two first matches.

Whole squad looks really strong to me. We gonna have proper depth this season, even if 2-3 walks away.

IF we reach the final the players can have 3 weeks off then 2 weeks training before the season starts. Sure the club will manage it well.

Think FIFA want everyone there from the off.
 
Wydad and Al Ain are great opportunities to start to bed in our new signings and bring players back from injury. Juventus game we may revert to type a little bit if they aren't hitting the ground running immediately.

For the players it will be a very similar summer to when they play in an international tournament. Most of them will be used to it.

But they’ll probably get more time off and I don’t think the training will be as intense. Pep’s not going to sabotage next season by flogging the players to win this competition. And I’m guessing the other big clubs will approach it in the same way.
 
Playing Gundogan is like having another manager on the field, and his form at the end of the season was great

I think Pep will start him, and rightly so

I'd be happy to put O'Reilly in for Foden to give him as much rest as possible.
