True. But I think Nige and Barry have 1 year left in them each (for different reasons), and with the signing of Rodwell; who's a motivated, young player who will need to play eventually. Then for at least the following season, having NDJ, Barry, Rodwell, Yaya, Alonso and possibly Milner/Razak competing or 2 spots. Would create a "4 top class strikers" dilemma.LoveCity said:pudge said:If like you say, he has another 5 years in him, then why would we sign him and Rodwell; who would get next to no game time.
Well if the news of Alonso refusing to sign a contract is true, it only broke today. Rodwell would get game time too even if we signed Alonso, assuming NDJ leaves this summer instead of walking for nothing next (Sneijder's public tapping up of him makes me think there may be legitimacy to the Inter rumours). 4 specialised central midfielders (+1 in Razak if he doesn't go on loan) for 2 positions would mean plenty of games for all unless we draw United in the FA and Carling Cup 3rd rounds and lose both games. And we may not be so lucky with injuries this year... and there is the small matter of Yaya in Africa for a month.
I include Milner because the 3-5-2 won't be a regular formation according to Mancini, so he'd be competing for a more central role imo.
