Properly trained journalists (there are some) don't behave like Tommy Robinson did. He ignored a court order, behaved in what can easily be construed as a threatening way towards the defendants, and appeared to be encouraging his followers to identify and perhaps harass them. And his motivation was avowedly the defendants’ race and religion. Properly trained journalists don’t behave like that. Most importantly, they don’t risk the collapse of a series of important court cases by disregarding a court order, which was in place solely to ensure that all the defendants got a fair trial.
Yaxley-Lennon has garnered support because of the scale of the Asian grooming scandal e.g. as highlighted by the Alexis Jay report of 2014 on Rotherham.
A good starting point for a more informed view on that issue is chapter 8 of James Fergusson's Al-Britannia: A Journey Through Muslim Britain.
Fergusson's interview with Elizabeth McDonnell, the author of You Can't Have My Daughter: The True Story of a Mother's Desperate Fight To Save Her Daughter From Oxford's Sex Traffickers is well-worth reading.
