Yaya - a lazy ass or something else?

Once again a passenger. He doesn't have the agility, energy or desire to play the role of midfield enforcer nor does he have the skills of a playmaker.Whenever we play a team with a dynamic, creative and passionate midfield he gets found out as he simply doesn't have the ability to match or counter such qualities.

Playing alongside Barry only highlights his inadequacies.A liability against decent opposition and the main reason we lost the midfield battle last night.Milner would have been the wiser choice to start but hopefully, longterm,Hargreaves can get and stay fit as he has far more strengths to his game and offers the team much greater ability and protection.

Yaya alongside barry was just asking to be taken to the slaughter house.

The number of times players waltzed past them was a ridiculous.

There was this one play where bayern munich had the ball around the edge of the box, and yaya was around 2 or so metres away from the guy just lethargically jogging back when he could have made the tackle.

Yaya leaves wide space open between midfield and defence, he should at least try to hack opposition down early in the middle, not just watching and step back until the opposition player get in to near box and have a free shot.

You can tell from his expressions that he wanted to win and got frustrated all match.

IMO, Yaya should return back to his box-to-box role where he's most dangerous.

have been saying the same lately, far to slow when up against quality players.sometimes the game seems to pass him bye,I blame him for the poor second half display at Fulham, why can't Mancini see it ?.Hopefully now De jong is back yaya can keep the bench warm in the big games

last night he was awful just letting opposing players walk past him,how he wasnt substituted is beyond me.I remember last season though he started off very very slow and in the later end of the season he was a machine and won alot of games single handed

He is a very good player (generally). However,

He is either unfit or tired (right now).

He should be benched for at least a game to see whether some rest would do him any good (if he is tired).

I dont think he should play every game

same here, but he started off last season in the same vein so lets hope he kicks on from here.

just on a side note anyone think his slow starts to the season could be something to do with him fasting for ramadan and not getting the right amounts of nutrition in him in the hectic first few games of the season and is there for playing catch up for a while?

I honestly believe that it's written in his contract, if he's fit, he plays.
When was the last time (Carling cup apart) he was rested?

Never liked him he doesn't ever look fit and after a forward run looks positively knackered.

Will always love him for his two Wembley goals but as a friend of my son said "I've seen better players on the local parks".

He is about as mobile as a traffic cone and as easy to get around. A good passer of the ball when given time. He doesn't often get that time though.
How he stayed on the pitch last night amazed me, a total passenger with the fitness level of a 70 year old.
We need someone who is a lot more mobile than this guy, stealing a wage at the moment if I'm being honest.
A player who frustrates the sh1te out of me.

The position he is currently playing - deep lying midfielder - only suits him if the team are dominating possession. It was why he did well at Barcelona and why he has had some superb games this year; Spurs away.

But when we are under the cosh he becomes a liability in that position. You need to get back to provide a layer of protection for the defence when the opposition counter. You need to bust a gut to win second balls. Yaya doesn't have the body or engine to do that. We got the most out of him last season as the AM, where his need to get back into position wasn't as important. He'd always have Nige and Barry there to do the dirty work. And it suited him.

Against lesser teams Yaya-Barry will work. It has worked. We are joint top and unbeaten in the league. Against better teams with strong midfielders and quick counters, it has to be Barry-De Jong with either Yaya or Nasri as the AM who tucks in.

Mancini needs to rotate like this as it will do Yaya the world of good physically - as the best technical midfielder we have, and the one with game changing abilities, he plays every game. It isn't sustainable. But those shitting on him aren't seeing the big picture. He is a phenomenal player and Mancini knows that. But he needs to be used correctly. Mancini has sat him there to fit in the fab 4. It simply doesn't work against top sides.

He looks like one of the least fit players we have but rarely gets rested which always confuses me. I really don't like the look of Barry and Yaya as the holding pair. I suspect that either of them are fine in that role alongside NDJ but together they just don't really work. I am pretty sure that now NDJ is back, Yaya will be pushed up like last season and one of the attacking 4 we have had in recent games will be rotated each match.

Not played well at all this season.

I suspect this is mainly because he is being asked to played NDJ's role, so I'll give him the benefit for the time being.

Thank goodness NDJ is back!

I was really excited when he first joined City, all the hype around him was fantastic...

On reflection, I think I only ever heard that he scored important goals for Barca. Yes he won us the Semis and Final, but it wasn't all down to him.

In my opinion, he isn't a very good holding midfielder, he's more effective in an attacking role, but even then after he's missed a shot his on the floor lying down for about 5 minutes or gets into a sulk.

One of the reasons we played poorly yesterday (in the second half) is because we didn't have anyone motivational enough to encourage and carry the team on, sat in midfield, Yaya should be doing this!

Trust me I like the bloke I just wish he put in a bit more effort and spray the ball out to the wings more instead of down the middle.

blimey some posters are fickle a very you only sing when hes scoring situation. god when he scores can do nothing wrong , i belive he is harbouring a injury he limps off most matches, but when he has this form send him to the gallows.....
