Yaya - a lazy ass or something else?

last night he was awful just letting opposing players walk past him,how he wasnt substituted is beyond me.

I've thought this in most of this seasons games if i'm honest.

You can tell from his expressions that he wanted to win and got frustrated all match.

IMO, Yaya should return back to his box-to-box role where he's most dangerous.
Box-to-box role??? I always saw it as a box-to-lying-flat-on-the-ground role.

"box-to-box" players need to go from box-to-box in BOTH directions.

Give the guy a chance, you'll see him improve when De Jong gets back and Yaya does the job he was doing so well last season.

When we first signed Yaya this same thread was made ... he is lazy / slow etc, then he adapted to a more attacking role and we saw his runs and speed, now hes been moved back he isn't allowed to go on them so we have the same problem, if he isnt appearing to be blistering at a defence then yaya is crap according to half this forum. The guy scored 2 of our most important goals last season from his more forward position, hes playing in de jongs role and you are all moaning he looks lazy etc, give the guy a break he's filling in at the moment, get on his back when he performs shit in his more natural position

He cares about winning as much as anyone on the team.. But he isn't as hardworking on the defensive end as he should, and that's why he needs to play next to De Jong against teams ala Bayern

He's an entirely gutless, charmless, lazy bastard with the physique and posture of a 90 year old Queen Latifah suffering from a degenerative spine, and the application of Robinho after a few hits of a large bong.

While a talented player while in possession, without it he's as useful as a traffic cone.

Our most frustrating player.

And an indefensibly lazy ****.

could not agree more

Seems knackered and unfit most of the time, he is also being made to play in a more relaxed Defensive Midfield role in place of De Jong. Drop Nasri (has played poor since his debut) next game and put him in a more attacking role, then you will see the old Yaya that we all know and love.

Not suited to the formation we play , simple as that . He is a quality midfield player , going forward he is a steam train and he can pull the strings from the back when he plays there . But if you ask him to do both , he can't , he doesn't have the stamina to charge forward and then bust his gut to make tackles . He was adapted better to his attacking midfield role , which I think we will eventually see him return to at some point this season. When we lose , people look at players performamces more closely and feel the need to dish out endless criticism and stupid comments , Yaya isn't lazy , if he was , he wouldn't be playing for us and wouldn't be given such an important job in the team.

I'd like to see someone else paired with NDJ than Yaya. He's been really having trouble this season and perhaps needs a bit of a rest. On a separate note, watching his interview gives me the impression that the only words he knows confidently in English are "you know?" lmao

He's similar to Dzeko with his "uhhh".

what? You don't want Yaya next to De Jong?

We can mix who's playing with who in most matches, But Yaya and De Jong should be preffered in big games

Yaya hit great form at the end of last season problem is it took him all season to hit it. Unfortunately he appears to have reverted back to his lazy ways and always finds himself in the wrong position, fingers crossed it's just a blip an he's back putting balls in the net asap!

correct.

yaya is a really strange player

when we are dominant and on top of a team he is excellent....but when we are chasing a game he doesnt seem to have any real effect.

For a big guy he isnt particularly strong at tackling or heading yet he is at times impossible to push off the ball and to stop when he is running...

half the time he looks kanckered and about to die on his feet...the other half he looks like he could run past a whole team on his own

when we are chasing games though he becomes inaffective

he had a poor game vs Munich and a lot of the things he tried didnt come off...he seems to give up at times as well (almost out of frustration)

Since he has been at the club he has got important goals for us in big games. Fitness level is so fucking poor for a professional footballer playing in England his fitness is maybe 1 of the worst in the league. He needs to loose some weight after last season you would of thought we would of seen a slim line Yaya able for speed of the league but it has yet to be seen. A big game player he has been for us so hopefully he gets over his blip and move forward. Barry and Yaya in a midfield together without De Jong your asking for problems against the better teams.

I expect like last season he will come good when it matters most. When the cups are given out. He is a winner and is used to winning everything and we need players like him in and around our squad. Mancini seems to be happy with his fitness levels to be playing him in every game but to be getting huge money to play football and not be able to stay fully fit is a big worry. Hes 28 now and he should be coming to football peak over the next 2 years or so but it looks like he is passed he peak at times.
