Ivory Coast coach Francois Zahoui has cancelled his team’s scheduled gathering in Paris amid foggy arrangements for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
The Elephants were to regroup on Saturday January 7 in the French capital before heading for Abu Dhabi where a pre-tournament camping will hold for a week, to be topped off with two friendly matches against Lebanon and Tunisia.
However, the new arrangement enjoins the players to travel individually to the United Arab Emirate without a stopover in France. No reasons were given by the coach, but a source at the Ivory Coast Football Federation (FIF), who refused to be named for not being authorized to speak for the body, told Supersport.com that the decision was not from coach Zahoui but from the FA itself.
Ivory Coast will kick off their campaign against Sudan in Group B on January 22 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, before meeting familiar neighbours Burkina Faso and Angola.
