Yaya Toure apologises

They may respect others but it's all about helping themselves first and foremost. That's competitive sport at the end of the day.

That said, Introducing the slit throat signal into the Hakka wasn't the high of sportsmanship.
Totally agree with both your posts on them.

In some respects, I feel sorry for toure. I know that he's been incredibly well rewarded for what he does (did) but on a personal level, he might be confused.
Seluk has always said how much the fans love yaya and how he's irreplaceable. He's given people (yaya especially) the notion that he's bigger than the club and we should be grateful that a player of his stature decided to grace us with his presence. Last year's league cup final should have been a barometer for him. The look of confusion on his face when all the players ran to caballero spoke volumes.
I think he's assuming that there'd be protests from the fans and unrest at what's happening with Pep. Another wake up call.
When he eventually leaves, I imagine that him and his agent will label us all as ungrateful, small time, insignificant, fickle, delusional etc etc. It won't matter though. At least not to us as fans and the club in general. We'll have leagues and cups to win. I've no doubt that the hacks will lap it up and make a big deal out of it but most people will see it as a player and his mouthpiece shunned.
It's starting to piss me off a bit now when I see people saying, "I'll always be grateful........"
Why?
Why don't him and his knobhead show a bit of gratitude, not to mention respect. By the time he leaves, he'll have been paid approximately £60million in wages. Made captain in Kompany's absence. Allowed to leave the graft to other players to accommodate his onfield sabbaticals. Won cups and titles in the most competitive and watched league in the world.
His attitude, disrespect, ingratitude and self importance is a disgrace.

Great post. Agree with every word.

Yaya has 10 times the ability of a player like Zaba, however one will go down as a club legend the other will be remembered for crying over a cake. Such a shame as Yaya has contributed so much to get us where we are but at the end of the day he and his agent are a pair of deluded cunts

Bit worried about Yaya - think all that cake is giving him migraines. Seriously he's got the message, he ain't gonna play so he'll get 'injured' or go sick soon enough and stop attending training. We won't see him again. He'll be off to somewhere third rate at Christmas.

It was incredibly calculated.

Pep brought this up 1 month after Seluk last spoke out, but the day that Yaya returned to training after missing a week from a migraine.

I don't know why he chose to have this fight now, but this is definitely happening because Guardiola wants it to - he was the one who decided to take it public.
Maybe because he didn't have a migraine and was off all week because he's a smacked arse

An absolutely astonishing case of how you go from cult hero to dosser in the space of a couple of years. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but if we'd fucked him off the summer of cakegate, he would be held in complete reverence by every blue on the planet. To see this car crash of his decline has been painful tbh.

I'll always look at Yaya (in his pomp) fondly, but fuck me this last couple of years has left a sour taste in the mouth regarding his legacy at the club. Lets be completely honest, we would never have been able to achieve what we have without this fella but I'll never look at him as a club legend because of the utter, utter weapon he has associated himself with.

Its a sad end to the story, and it 100% shouldnt have been like this.

DSIAC.

Your analysis is bang on. Absolutely brilliant a few years ago - dragged us kicking and screaming to the FA cup and both recent titles but the inevitable decline has been handled so badly and whilst you can't take away his past glories his legacy is very tarnished but with some common sense it could all have been avoided and Yaya wouldn't be a penny worse off. That's the real pity - for all Yayas agents tomfoolery he has gained nothing but derision from all the antics.

Yaya has probably signed documents that have him stitched up so tight he can't, or won't even speak!
If this was a marriage Seluk would be investigated for "controlling behaviour "
This is what I think so. Imagine growing up in Ivory Coast and dreaming to make it happen , you would sign any paper without going through each and every line.

another week and seluk has pocketed probably around £25k from yaya's salary whilst slagging our manager on a daily basis , we should sack him for gross misconduct , see how that looks on his CV , and sort it out in the courts , fuck yaya and fuck his dickhead agent , the gravy train has stopped .In my view Toure has no legacy with our club just like Tevez , they used us , and we paid them handsomely whilst using them , its a business transaction we pay them for their services , neither of them are particularly bothered about our club and supporters , personal glory was only ever their main concern , mercenary is a harsh term , but it describes Yaya and Tevez to a tee.

You are quite right

Exactly.

He's basically dug his heals in cos him and his greedy twat agent want the dosh or a huge transfer fee, whicb was never gonna happen least of all to a club in serie A.
You could tell in the dead rubber v Bucharest he wasn't gonna fit in our new "everybody works for their team-mates, high tempo" system and he knew it too, but instead of getting his head down and getting his fitness up he went down the Danny Mills route.

Yes he was a hero and we should never forget those days but as of now he is dead weight hanging on to his cash cow. I don't give a shite bout him or his agent they are both gone in the summer and even when we do win the cheats league without him that slimy prick of an agent will be whinging about something else so who cares!

We were willing to tolerate Seluk, Toure, and the tantrums while we needed him, but time has moved on, and the owners have obviously granted Guardiola carte blanche to handle matters as he sees fit. Not sure why it was deemed necessary to raise it in the press conference, but I expect Toure to be at the club until his contract expires.

You are quite right

I get the sentiment but the comparison Tevez is out. Tevez never as far as I can remember let the fans down whilst on the pitch (I know getting him there in the latter stages hard) even when he hated the skin of his manager. He even ran his bollox off when demoted to the EDS at Hyde. Ya Ya and Tevez are/were both Prima Donna, i just think for different reasons

I fully back pep on this, yaya is not really needed so pep has used him as an example to the others as a result we will have a tight knit loyal to each other squad.Joe had it right when he said there was a situation with him at the club but him and pep were dealing with it like men and he has not said a bad word about pep and that's how it should be

I've read comments on other sites that make it seem like this is all Pep and it's just started happening. Yaya has been a problem for years now and Pep is the first guy to stand up to him and Seluk.
