City close on Toure deal
Manchester City are cranking up their transfer activity as teams drop out of the World Cup and are expected to seal a move for Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure this week.
Toure, whose World Cup campaign with Ivory Coast came to an end at the group stage, will join his brother Kolo at Eastlands MEN Sport can confirm.
The Barcelona website confirmed: "In case of Toure, Oliver has recognised an understanding between the club interested in the midfielder, Manchester City, and Barca, but the transfer cannot be made official yet."
Reports in Spain claim that a four-strong delegation - including Garry Cook - had a four-hour meeting with Toure and his agent, Dimitri Seluk, at the Hotel Miramar on Monday.
City are believed to have secured Toure's services as they are the only club willing to pay the 32 million euro transfer fee that Barcelona have demanded.
Although Seluk told Spanish radio the transfer will not go ahead until they have spoken with new Barca president Sandro Rosell, it is understood everything could be signed and sealed by Friday.
While City officials were in talks with Toure, another delegation apparently headed south to try and finalise the signing of Valencia midfielder David Silva.
City are understood to have agreed a 35 million euro fee with the club but have yet to reach agreement with player amid rumours of possible interest from Chelsea
