His relationship, mentoring & status with the youngsters is great to see.

Giving Jesus that penalty was the act of a man who is embracing & relishing the role of senior pro & statesman. A man to look upto.

The youngsters referring to him as Uncle is a lovely sign of the affection they hold for him.

We know the player........we're now seeing the man we've always wanted.

Respect Yaya.

Absolutely this. Another pre season following Pep's meal plan and he will continue to play a huge role on so many levels at the club.

The thing that sets Yaya aside from just about all our players in the last 20 odd years has been his ability to play his best football in the really big games. FA Cup semi versus the Rags, Final Against Stoke, Final against Sunderland, Final against Liverpool - he's had a huge impact in all those games. Also in derby games and in premiership run in's etc. you could generally rely on him to be at the top of his game. Great player who performs when it really matters.
What you post is correct in a domestic context, but he's never really delivered the goods for us in Europe, especially in the big games.

The coaches & team have rarely delivered in the biggest CL games.

Last years semi at Franco FC was a betrayal of our values. I'd rather have lost 5-2 than gone out in that liley livered way.

I've said for a couple of seasons now that it's time for him to go, and even after this season where he stepped up again & performed for us I felt it was still the right time.

However I can happily come round to the prospect of him staying if he's accepting a smaller role in the side, I imagine he's already accepted reduced wages - this year he seems to have matured a lot in terms of what he's been saying & the way he acts; he seems like he's being a great role model for the younger guys & I think with the amount of change happening in the team it's important to keep around a few who know the ins & outs of the club, it seems Yaya has taken to that role readily & we all know Kompany will be great at it.

Good for him for turning it around in my eyes, he can certainly still bring something to the pitch that can help us next year, and think even more so bring benefit to the new younger guys.

Imagine if he made it 100 before the end of next season.... (If we got all the penalty's we should have had he'd probably be nearly there already!)

The Dream.... Yaya, FA Cup Final, at that end scoring his 100th City goal to win us the cup...... I can dream!

Great players like Yaya allow you to dream......with hope & realism.

If we look at, has a player been worth his transfer fee and wages, then you have to say Yaya has been worth every penny, forget about the couple of strops he had and think about what he has brought to the team in the last 7 years, not many players stay at one club for that long.

Me too, very happy he is staying, I was slagging him off big time at the start of the season and calling for him to do one sharpish, once he got in the side, he proved me wrong, very happy with his attitude and his performances last season, hope he has a stormer next season then retires a happy Blue..!

Surprised by this as I had him as going for sure.

Not sure how he will go as an impact player and it suggests we might not bring in the next generation of defensive midfield as quickly as I thought esp if Ferny stays as well which could be the case.

I am glad he is staying for another year. Experienced cool head his ball retention and passing is second to none. I can see him coming off the bench in second half when the game has slowed down and just calming it down and taking control.

Well done City/Pep
Finish his career at City like Vieira did and give him the same opportunities he deserves it more than what Vieira did IMO...

Pissed some of the usual suspects off on here:-) thank feck Pep knows more than some...

Yaya Legend!!

Noticeable that 2 of the first to say how happy they are to see him sign a new deal are Sané and Sterling.

He seems to have really embraced a mentor role in the squad, and with more young guys coming in that's only going to get more important.
