Yaya Toure - Things to consider.

Its not about what they say, its about how they play - for me at least.

Some earlier posts on here repeating quotes from a July 09 interview - not really relevant imo; in the football world opinions and quotes from players/managers/agents pundits on tv/radio et al are worth diddly squat -and are liable to change at short notice.

I do agree with some of the quotes in the OP about yearning for the good old days, going to Maine Road with me mates (when a lot younger), but it all reads a bit "rose-tinted spectacles", wishing for a by-gone era.

Bottom line, he might say all sorts of things now, but if when he crosses the white line with our shirt on he gives a genuine 100%, thats all the matters.

i don t know what your problem is mate....yaya boosts the midfield for the duration of the season....

i would still have dj and barry first until yaya wins a place.

rotation should work a treat.a few more key players and it will be a great season.

Football is a proffesional sport, it is people's job. We all love to watch it and maybe some of us play for fun but remember for them first and foremost it is a career.

Whether you like the 'proffesionalisation' of sport, the idea of the elite athletes or not it is a fact in modern sport. These are not people who grew up watching locals play for their team wishing they could be them, these are people who play football as a job. The proffesional nature of the sport has its downside, more than money its the win at any cost mentality, look at Kaita against Brazil - that happens because of the massive rewards for winning. The benefits, for me at least, of watching a professional sport out weigh the problems however. The level of competition, players of such enormous skill - they wouild not be this good if football was not there job.

And finally, remember, every City player of ridiculous wages is paying half of that in tax to help get this country out of debt.

Oh, one more thing. Do you think this extends beyond just not liking footballers being payed well and actually boils down to ideology. I am assuming you are older the players for our club. I think few people of the age of players at the club think in terms of class, they have a very different attitude to money than you. Now we get into is money good bad debate...and thats where the true discussion is.

If City want any footballers currently playing in Spain, they are going to have to increase the weekly salaries because of the variation in tax levels. Let's not forget that a good number non-spaniards and non-Spanish speakers move to play in Spain because the tax regime is favourable. Yaya on £110,000 in Spain might need another 20% to keep level!

But on the basis of what he is asking for and what we might have to pay, we are in the Rocky and Joleoninho madhouse of paying far more than than the commodity is worth. Add to that the notion that he doesn't want to come and only staggering amounts would see him look favourably on MCFC, I say pull the rug and look somewhere else.
