Yaya Toure

Sunday may well be the last appearance of one of the greatest players to play for Manchester City. Cake or no cake, and regardless of Seluk and his comments, on field Yaya has my respect. 20 league goals, a title and a great goal in a league cup final win wasn't enough for player of the year. Scandalous.
IMHO Based on his contributions. Greatest player to ever play for City. Too bad he isn't English to wit he can't have his cake and eat it too. At least he speaks better English than most of us.

Well said, magnificent player, just wish he had treated the club with more respect over the last two years.
He hasn't really done much wrong other than not admit the real reason why he's wanted to move on.

I say I want to work somewhere else at least once a week. He's no different, he's just in some job just like all of us are. He's fancied another job somewhere else for two years. Big deal.

For me, the real reason behind it though is, I think he's known his fitness and recovery has been on its way down for a few years and, being a professional sportsman (with the pride and vainness they have), he's not wanted to openly admit that. So he's come out with a few daft comments but with the same meaning behind it; he wants to leave us and the Prem to play somewhere that won't be as difficult on his waining fitness and recovery.

City are the ones stupidly not giving him his move for two years despite it being as plainly obvious to anyone that has eyes that his fitness and recovery is turning big time.

Before he started to lose this though I'd argue he's certainly in the top 5, probably top 3, maybe even top 1 best players ever to play for this club!

£24m. Money well spent. Not been good this season, but the whole team have been down. However, £24m! 192 games, 54 goals - that's from Wikipedia so I'm hoping it's true!

His agent has been a complete tool and his agent is employed by Yaya....so he is so blame.

But I totally agree about the fitness issues. He has aged and his fitness levels have naturally declined, I think Pellegrini has managed him appallingly.

He no longer is a 90min player and has not been for a long time. But as an impact player he could still been a great part of the squad.

You should write scripts for Coronation Street, just make sure they're a tad more realistic so they don't think you've completely lost the plot.

He is in a group with Silva, Aguero and Kompany who will be remembered for a long time to come. I don't think he is a 90 minute player anymore but he will be missed nontheless.

Totally agree a legend who made history. Good things have to come to an end eventually.
Never forget celebrating the semi final goal v Utd, the goals away at Newcastle, out of the blue genius goal v Sunderland, running though Villa before we won the league, the ice cold penalty v Liverpool at Wembley.
It's a disgrace he finished 3rd as player of the year when we won the league.

Great post.

£24 million for 5 trophies. An absolute steal.
