Yaya

I think we sometimes try and close opponents down when it would be better to sit a little. Fernandinho did it quite a lot yesterday and as a result, Villa's attackers got into some dangerous situations. Same with Otamendi in general.

I just think we either press as a team or we don't press as a team, but if we don't press, we can't try and play offside on the edge of the box.

Having Yaya in the team makes it absolutely impossible to press as a team, he's not physically or mentally capable. Hence why we get systematically beaten by every half decent team who is prepared to have a go at us. We're simply to easy to play against with him in a two.

The options are either drop the pressing style, which then means your opponents are allowed to dominate possession if they want or play Yaya in a three, which then means you have to drop Silva or play him out of position wide left. Both stupid ideas fundamentally.

Player who I think we will never replace! Just like the arsenal have the never replaced viera the rags with scholes! These players are irreplaceable! For me the most influential player to every wear the blue shirt!

Pogba is the one who is nearest to the ability of Yaya hopefully we get him in the summer.

Personally I absolutely love Pjanic at Roma too. Gundogan obviously also has elements of Toure's game. Getting Pogba + any one other of that quality is what we need to do. Midfield rebuild has to be the priority.

Essential. Everytime i watch the lad he just gets better and better.

Pace, power, passing, tackling and an eye for goal.

Or play Fernandinho on the right where he looked great against Liverpool and Kiev, and then play Yaya, Silva and Fernando centrally. And of you wanted to go down your road, on recent form, dropping Silva would be more sensible than dropping Yaya.

Yaya hasnt physically declined like some are saying on here..

He is currently lacking fitness which has resulted in weight gain..

He has been carrying injuries all season which probabily means he cant train intensely, this is probabily the reason he has gained weight..

Whenver you see him train on CityTV he is just jogging around lightly, its no wonder he has got heavier..

It wouldnt surprise me at all if Yaya was still a pivotal player in our team next season..

Fully fit there not not many better players around and as he has shown this season, he can still win a game..

Agree with you. Doesn't matter too much when we have 70% possession plus against teams like Villa. It does matter when you play a better team who are comfortable on the ball. That I think is at the heart of why we do well against the Villas and struggle against the better teams. Like any team we have strengths and weaknesses. Our weakness is the defending in midfield. We have Fernando, Fernandinho and Delph who can do this, but can they attack as well?

Toure was close to the complete midfielder when in his pomp. He had everything. Now he has somethings but as a squad there isn't an obvious solution. I'd have gone for being solid in midfield and using the flair of Silva, Aguero and Sterling to win us games, but Pellegrini wants to carry on regardless. The results are there for all to see

I used to subscribe to that view. "he just needed to get his head right, and work had in pre-season" but for whatever reason he has declined. Quality on the ball remains, but the physical phenomena that was impossible to stop has gone
