Yaya's Contract

He didn't touch the ball in the last 15 mins, he is good but can be very sloppy and lazy at times, very overrated IMO

here we go, lets stop speculating about yaya.

he is one of our star players....

lets support the guy. he came up with the trumps agains the scum last year and will do this season.

believe.....

Yaya would get in any team in the Prem , but for some reason a lot of our fans dont rate him ...
Bewildered....

How can a player be slower running backwards without the ball than running forward with it?

A real enigma for me. Will be interesting to see how we shape up in January without him

Such is life.

He's a player that every team needs, but he's quite limited in what he can do and what he can't. Today i think he just held onto the ball too long when he was in the middle or rampaging forwards.

A truly world class midfielder. I think the only problem with him is that he is tired. I mean jesus he has started practically every game for us this year, he must of chalked up close to 20 games already.

I hate reading stats on players like most number of passes completed or whatever, doesnt mean anything if you pass it backwards everytime or sideways.

I agree with the OP, he is so slow and just wanders around the middle of the field, when he falls over he takes about 2 minutes to get back up, he must hit the target with 1 out of every 50 shots and he gives the ball away a ridiculous amount! The last 2 games especially he's been useless, he should be out and De Jong should be in no question on current form. Im not saying he's always like this but recently he has been...

No, it's not. It's just you rating him on one bad thing (like some bad pass or passes) and forget all other things he does.

That man keeps the large piece of the pitch for our team on his own and he is so valuable for this team it's untrue. And it's understandable that he makes mistake here and there as he is always in the center of the action. Opponents attacking or we are going up, there's always Yaya involved.

Saying that, he should definitely get some game to rest, he's playing all the time and should have some day off..

Read the posts!! People are just saying, including me, that the guy needs a rest. His ability and contribution to the team is not in question. His ability to play every game (except CC) IS!

You seem to think I am criticising Yaya, I am absolutely not. I am saying that the guy is clearly exhausted and should be rested. THAT is what I find painful to watch - one of our best players quickly running out of energy in recent games.

ps If my original post has offended you, you clearly haven't understood what I was saying.

I think you have to live with Toure as some games he's not really up for it and sometimes he seems very tired and lethargic as you say, that was certainly the case vs Liverpool. But he has world class ability and has shown he can push us on to win trophies, I've no doubt he'll step up again when we really need someone to. I just wish Mancini would sub him off more when he fades away as badly as he did in the second half yesterday

Anyone notice in the latest Inside City, Yaya had intense back pain when sitting down and Johnson said he's getting old?

Lad's getting knackered out there. He's never played this many games consistently in his life. By years end, he will have nearly the same amount of appearance for City in a 1 full year span than he had with 3 seasons at Barcelona.

His fitness and body just isn't suited like a Milner. The lad needs some rest and an ice bath :D

Looks tired after playing an intense Champions League game midweek, he is a big lad you know, he's carrying a lot more than the other players whilst playing in one of the most physically demanding position's on the pitch in the most physically demanding league in the world.

Give him a week off (next two games) and watch him be back at his best v Chelsea.

I think Yaya brings a psychological presence to the team. I'd feel safe in his company. Like Viera did for Arsenal, he makes players feel comfortable and not overawed by the opposition. Ok, he appears lethargic at times, but he has more than his fair share of good moments. Some days he is immaculate in his passing. Don't forget the FA Cup trophy we have is down to him, Semi and Final.

I'm simply stunned by this thread.
Yaya has been magnificent for us this season. Our most important player.
He is pivotal to the way we play - that's why he always plays.
To be honest it pisses me right off when people say he looks lethargic or lazy - even yesterday he worked his b*llocks off.
He's not slow, lazy, lethargic or disinterested - he's a collosal player for us and I for one am dreading him going away in January

Absolutely ridiculous. In this new system it's been the complete opposite. He's been doing all sorts of work that hasn't been getting the headlines but is so important to the team - picking it up from centre halves, holding players off who are pressing us, switching the play to players in space or threading it through the opposition midfield to our attacking players. Then there's the hard work he does covering angles for passes and harassing the opposition. On top of all this he wins us games with goals and assists. He's pivotal and it embarrasses me that a lot of City fans can't see it.

Absolutely - his psychological presence is even bigger than the huge physical presence he brings. His composure epitomises the way we play and he won't back down from anyone. I thought Barry's performance dropped yesterday after dirk kuyt had a go at him, you won't get that with Yaya it will just spur him on. Winner
