Yokohama (A) - Pre-Season Friendly | Post-Match Thread

Akanji and Philips were not at it today. Not sure if we should be just cutting our losses with KP
Watched him closely. Not his fault for second goal but watch him ambling back then fail to get his foot in.
Rodders would have prevented that.
Pass out of play under no pressure
Comes backwards when he should turn away

Ake would do a better job in that position

Stones is a CB but levels above in midfield

He should know he is not good enough at this level. Can only play one position and he is shite at that

Didn’t get to see the second half - or much of the first. How did the youngsters play? Specifically McAtee, hoping he can get some minutes and stay with us this season.

McAtee did OK I thought gomez palmer and bobb. where a lot better but the team did seem to step it up 2nd half

He’s not shit is he? He’s just not top quality, therefore not good enough for us. Shame but I can see a replica of last season coming up for him. Hope he wins as many medals though ;)

Philips was not that bad. he has some trouble with decision making when in the central zone while under pressure. either he plays it quickly while he needs to slow down or during defense he jumps from his position when he should stay. first touch should be reliable 100% time but for now it is at 80%. he has the skills to play for us but at the moment it is his head.

I think that's fair assessment.

He puts himself under pressure to make the right decision quickly.

David/ Bernardo Silvas or Rodri spin out to give themselves time of which Phillips is entirely capable of doing.
