Young Boys (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

That pitch was frightening, glad we've got through it.

Alvarez is an absolute star he's a bit of Gundo and a bit of Aguero rolled into one.

Being lenient with nunes and kovacic, they had periods of great promise such as nunes almost getting himself on the scoresheet and kovacic finding the space intelligently, but something isn't clicking and we really need it to do so by new year. That said, kev back by then! Kova needs a bit more forward drive but looks like he's running in treacle, and Nunes needs to be better off the ball and decision making, imo. Hopefully it all comes together, but I feel that one more in, come January, is quite likely given their apparent limits.

Soft penalty? Maybe, but it's a foul no questions if given further up the pitch, there was contact and we've had them given against us before.

Amusing listening to the commentators on TNT berate us for every little thing, every Haaland miss, every second we were drawing it's all about plucky Young Boys and underachieving City, and once we pulled two clear goals ahead it changed instantly to how Haaland has 37 in 33 champions league games, how were now on a 5 game winning streak in this competition. It's like they knew that at that exact point their whole red listener audience would have switched over...

Also thought that stadium announcer was a bit mad. Wasn't he wittering on after their keeper made a save and getting the crowd going, whilst the ball was still in play? Uefa won't like that, unless it was sponsored by a preferred partner or course.

Just send the highlights, seemed to be mostly one way traffic. The pitch was

The ball was bouncing to the bluemoon and back ! It also was to slippery. I dont like these competitions which have didnt rules depending on the ground.

Champions league shouldnt be played on plastic. The fa cup games should have VAR or not have VAR.

Penalty looked the same as the foul on KDB v rags in the fa cup final !!

I carefully watched the game for the 6 or 7 times during the play when a player lunged for a challenge in the box missing the ball and stomping on the tackled players foot. Glenda informed us this is how many of those types of challenges are made every game and how many penalties would have to be awarded if the Rodri challenge was a penalty.

Surprising not a single one.

I've seen that **** argue the slightest of contacts on Spurs players in the box is a "definite penalty"

Yeah I know, talking absolute bollox as usual.
I find TNT commentary really good with the volume muted. No one has paid any attention to what Twaddle has to say since his Eileen Drewery days. He’s the definition of “biased baffoon”

Deserved and earned win. YB made us work for it. Watched two games on that day, on astro, and neither have sold plastic footy fields to me. Definitely makes the ball land differently, roll less and also cause a fee injuries. Not to worry. Job done. Next.

I was a little concerned for Jack before, but that was a very committed and focused performance. He may have just booked his place in the derby.
I just don’t think we are the same team without the Jack of last season. Definitely returning to form. You know how important he is by the reaction of the home fans every time he had the ball. He’s a must for me on the derby team sheet.

Just watch the highlights again. How good was Jack tonight ? His first touch and passing was bang on and was a real threat. Rodders was the usual maestro in midfield. Alvarez caused all sorts of havoc and I think he looks to be the new Aguero. Powerful player and knows how to finish. We're so flipping lucky to have two incredible players up front. On a side note lovely gesture from Pep at the end, sending the players over to the away fans.
I'd rather have the old Aguero.

Grealish was very good, I thought. Lewis was too, their goal aside. Walker prevents that, I reckon. The pitch was a real issue. Alvarez? I'd play him over Nunes, all day long.
