My mother had a late change of mind, thankfully, when she saw The Magic Roundabout and realised one of the characters was called what she wanted to call me. I'd have hated being an Ermintrude.

My parents chose my name deliberately not to be after any member of the family.

Couldn’t really give a fuck what my name is. But it does irritate me ever so slightly when you meet someone for the first time and they ask you your name and I say ‘Stephen’ and they immediately go, ‘Nice to meet you Steve’ And I’m like.. What the fuck you bother asking me my name for if you’re just gonna call me something else anyway?
