This presents a nice challenge - the worst 18 you can think of from the Sheikh Mansour era (based on their time at the club)?

Aguero was injured for much of 2014. HIs first season with us, he was devastating. That was when we saw the best of him, in terms of impact on the team. And straight from the-off, too. Otherwise, I think you’re spot-on.

You're right that he was injured for a lot of 2014 - that was hanging over my decision - but while he was on the pitch he was the most lethal striker I've ever seen. He scored an unbelievable amount of goals in very little playing time and often from tight angles with astounding precision and power. In the league alone he scored 17 goals in 24 games and he only completed more than a half of football in 16 of those games. His physical condition was shot but his ability was unparalleled, even by his current standards.

I agree with what you’ve posted there. He was at his physical peak in 2014, injuries apart, if that makes sense. You did pick a year as your criterion, rather than a single match tbf!

Midfield picks itself. Fernandinho, Yaya, D. Silva and De Bruyne. Hard to justify leaving any out unless you are trying to put forward a balanced team rather than the best individuals.

Aguero is also an automatic selection because of what he has achieved and the bizarre scarcity of competition (Dzeko and Tevez being the only other two strikers who have been any good for more than six months).

Defence has two automatic picks in Zaba and Kompany. Hard to argue against either selection.

So we have a centre half and left back to pick, a second striker and the goalkeeper.

Hart
Zaba
Kompany
Stones
Laporte

Fernandinho
Yaya
KDB
Silva

Aguero
Tevez

I went with Hart because he was a very good player for us for a long time. His reputation is subject to so much unfair revisionism and he did have some stellar individual performances especially in Europe. Ederson's errors get brushed under the carpet in a way Hart was never afforded. In a couple of years I expect I will change this selection but for now Hart's longevity trumps Ederson's good start

Left back was the hardest choice because we haven't had anyone outstanding so I have stuck Laporte in there. Clichy declined badly but perhaps I could have put him in based on 2011-12 when he was very good.

Tevez edges out Dzeko because 2010 and 2011 he was sensational. I'm a big fan of the Bosnian Diamond though, he can be my first substitute.

Subs:

Dzeko
Ederson
Barry
De Jong
Sterling
B. Silva
Sane

Going with players in their prime:

Ederson
Zab Kompany Laporte Clichy
KDB Dinho Silva
Sterling Aguero Sane

Subs: Hart, Walker, Yaya, Barry, Nasri, Negredo, Stones
