Your favourite sitcom

I remember my dad calling me in off the front when I was around 8 ot 9. He said you've got to watch this its supposed to be brilliant. It was 1982 and that programme was THE YOUNG ONES. Absolutely fucking brilliant!
I think OFAH will shade this thread because of the amount they did. The storylines and characters were very strong. Other brilliant shows were Rising damp, Steptoe, Porridge, likely lads, The office, Phoneix nights, Partridge, Faulty towers, Early doors, Blackadder, Some mother's do have em, League of gentlemen, Monty Python and The Royal family. Loads more I've forgotten off the top off my head but we have been blessed with comedy over the years in the UK.
Mrs Browns boys is absolutely FUCKING SHITE btw. :)
Edit: Anybody mentioned The Dusbinmen yet ? City fest from start to finish.

I’m definitely watching old comedies with new eyes. There was an episode of Rising Damp where Rigsby is trying to teach Alan how to charm a posh girl he was dating and the scene involves him to go through how to enter a room, acknowledge the girl, flash the cuff links and adjust the trouser seam before sitting down. The two go back and forth rehearsing this routine, Rigsby is perfect (in his silly way) and does it quicker and quicker but Alan is lost. It must have taken ages to perfect.

I even saw a bit of Oh Dr Beeching and Su Pollard was good in it, but no way would I have watched it back in the day.

That said, Are You Being Served? Again! is still terrible.
The Yanks love Are you being served. It’s almost like when I’m introduced to someone, once we’ve got beyond “I have a friend in Devon, Simon Brown, if you know him? The subject turns to British TV and “I love Are you being served and keeping up appearances…”

Is that the one where Alan sits down, crosses his leg and launches the coffee table into mid air?
