You cheeky fucker!! laughing at my first car.

It's a Fiat Supermirafiori 1.6 twin cam, with twin choke Webbers and it went like shit off a shovel. Sounded like a Ferrari and rusted like a baked bean can on a beach.

HAHA, my first car was an 81 Beta Coupe, identical twin cam etc as yours. Yep it was like shit off a shovel, yep it rusted but I fucking loved that car.

That twin cam engine incorporated a unique 'design feature': The main coolant rail ran straight over the middle of the engine, this water pipe was made of steel and was positioned such that when it inevitably rusted and started to leak it deposited water directly on to the spark plugs, GENIUS!

A lovely gold/silver, E reg, vauxhall nova. Cost me 200 quid, and was worth every penny.

The first weekend i had it, i set off to go work, tried doing a 3-point turn to turn round and head off, but couldnt/didnt know how to put it in reverse cause it was a fucked up 'push down' gear stick for reverse. Every time i tried reversing, i just put it in 1st gear and went further forward with each go - i ended up up the curb and in the garden of the neighbours. In the end i had to ring a mate up to ask him how to put it in reverse - fucking gutted!!
Then to round it all off, i left the manual choke out all day - flooded the engine - and then when i tried leaving work i stalled it on the roundabout out, and couldnt get it started it again, every fucker was beeping and giving me shit for holding up traffic. Couldnt they see i was just a 17 yr old lad having a complete nightmare!!! Funny as fuck though!!

I picked up my new car a couple of weeks ago and was thinking how it'd compare to my old Chevette.

1953 Triumph Mayflower HUN (896?) in 1964. A real pig. Column change - linkages always out of adjustment. Top hose went and engine overheated - blew aluminium cylinder head. Couldn't get it off as it was corroded to steel studs. Got rid for a Hillman Minx.
