It's a Fiat Supermirafiori 1.6 twin cam, with twin choke Webbers and it went like shit off a shovel. Sounded like a Ferrari and rusted like a baked bean can on a beach.

HAHA, my first car was an 81 Beta Coupe, identical twin cam etc as yours. Yep it was like shit off a shovel, yep it rusted but I fucking loved that car.

That twin cam engine incorporated a unique 'design feature': The main coolant rail ran straight over the middle of the engine, this water pipe was made of steel and was positioned such that when it inevitably rusted and started to leak it deposited water directly on to the spark plugs, GENIUS!

I very nearly bought a Beta from Belle Vue auctions. They looked gorgeous and sounded awesome. The problems I had with my mirafiori persuaded me to be sensible and I bought a mark IV Cortina 1300 instead.
