He went to United TWICE!

He should have told Ferguson where to stick his offers, his obviously had good feelings towards United, after clapping his hands to "if you hate man utd etc" it was a shock. He was still good enough to fight for his place or go to another club as first choice, but prefered the bench there.

footballer moves for pay rise shocker!

He didn't. He went there to coach the second time.

If SWP , Richards, Given and Kompany left to them at the end of the season I trust you would be as philosphical.

a.) He didn't. He went there to coach the second time.

b.) If SWP , Richards, Given and Kompany left to them at the end of the season I trust you would be as philosphical.

a.) so, i dont blame him. would you rather he refuse a job. what loyalty did city show? disgraceful treatment by ball.

b.) life moves on corky.

One side of the story, easy to blame Ball, he got the blame for everything.

Coton was costing us goals due to his injury at the end of the 94/95 season, he just needed to get fit before he could play.

Plus he threw his gloves when he got sent off v derby and stormed off, tut tut.

If Coton hadn't gone to United then without a doubt he'd be my all time favourite player right now. Instead, I hate him.

He was blessed with unusual talent and I always remember thinking, during his peaks years, when we were one goal up with five minutes left to play that we were safe if Coton hadn't pulled off his obligatory world class save per game and I was ALWAYS proved right. He was fantastic.

The interview is certainly interesting and I do sympathise with the Lee/Ball situation, and I even get the attraction of a big pay day, but United? No, he's still a Judas piece of shit in my eyes.

Eike Immel that says it all he went where he was gonna be number 2 behind a decent keeper

He said himself he was offered a spot at Sunderland, where there's no way he would have been number two to anybody. Instead he went for the cash. Like I said, I've got no problem with an ageing player wanting a decent final pay day, but regardless of what people think there's such a thing as loyalty. Not to Ball or Lee but to the fans of the club, who had grown to love the guy. My point is, his hands weren't tied... he didn't have to choose United.

Who remember away vs Barnet - we lost 0-1 and the "players" came over to the City fans, only for us to give them dog's abuse (rightly so!)
Coton strode towards the City fans giving it the "C'Mon" jestures - nobody took him up on it though.

Ahhh, those long ago bad memories when we used to get regularly turned over by lower league teams........oh... hold on....

Not exactly what happened. The city players were getting abuse from the fans after a pathetic display that night. TC did not like the flack he was getting and then kicked a ball at one of the fans that hit the side boarding. He gave the city fans the 2 fingers and said a load of abuse to them but never came very close to the fans as he wanted to keep a safe distance. He showed his true worth that night and as far as I am concerned I was glad when he left because he never belonged to city nor did he want to be here.

Hello blue folks =)

You may or may not remember that I asked on here for questions from you to be put to Tony Coton. The first part of the interview with him has now been published and I included everybody's questions off here...(apart from the derogatory/ too-damn-rude ones, sorry!)

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.footypundette.blogspot.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.footypundette.blogspot.com</a>

The second part will be published next week. Thanks for your questions!

Nice one, Emily. Not met you before I also live in Lowton - used to play football some years back and your brother Simon was in the side.

Coincidentally, I was at Bolton Arena yesterday at a networking event and Tony Coton was in the cafe area next to us.

What does he do now? Is he working for Megson?
