Probably some of the most depressing lyrics ever, but a fantastic song nonetheless.

Add another level of sadness to it and there's the rumour that Ralph McTell made a fortune from the tune after nicking it off his room-mate Al Stewart who wrote it for his earlier song ''Samuel, Oh How You've Changed''.

Stewart although a prolific songwriter, in comparison to McTell, made bugger all 'til Year Of The Cat many many moons later!!

Have a listen and let me know what you think ..... it's a pretty sad song in it's own right!!
