"You're the one for me, Barry"

I've said it before on here and now I say it again. The best player I've ever seen in a City shirt.
I only remember Belly after his comeback and although I was only 8 at the time, I'll never forget
that Boxing Day against Newcastle when he came on for that second half. In fact, I'm getting
goose bumps just thinkin of it. But for me, Gareth Barry has been the most perfect footballer
for me. His precision passing and his defencive abilities absolutely second to none. I like the
look of Fernandinho, he looks like a crackin signing, but I'll miss Gareth Barry. He's the one
I really, really love. All The Best Gaz

We'll miss him more than many will realise. For 95% of the games he played in, we looked much, much better than we did when he wasn't playing. We'd have looked better with him against Hull and I reckon he'd have been more effective than either Yaya or Ferdaninho against Cardiff. Honest and hard working, which are attributes that only a few in the squad display. Everton have got themselves a quality player. More to the point, I doubt that our main title rivals would dump a experienced, consistent, un-flashy, English and fundamentally important player in this way.

Great summary.

I'm not happy he's gone. So often he was the glue that held our team together. Always in the right position and always available to receive the ball. Alright, he had no pace and it's a cliche but the first two yards were in his head.

I think Everton is a good fit. Martinez likes to play football, likes to keep it on the ground and likes to pass it around. Barry in, Fellaini out, I know who's got the best deal!!!

Thank god he is gone we need to be more dynamic in European games on a whole. Also in some of the bigger games at times he was shown up. He done well at the club and I was shocked to see him last for as long as he did. Different manager different style of play and different players.

Gareth Barry is the best value for money player that's arrived at the club, post cash-injection.

I love so many aspects of his game, but I really enjoyed his bone-shaking tackles. When it comes to tackling an opponent, clean, Barry, for me, does it better than anybody else.

He will be missed

This site is full of 'bell-ends'. I joined, initially, in 2009 but because when we beat Chelsea, last season at home, i made a comment that Chelsea looked tired! i was accused of being a rag and subsequently kicked off.

I agree with your sentiments; Barry's a LEGEND

after watching two shambolic midfield performances I thought sense would have kicked in and Pellegrini would consider keeping Gareth but alas he must see something in Garcia which frankly most of us don't Barry has a great football brain and this in true NDJ style will be a cock up The old man over at OT new the value of experienced players and they repayed him Fab deal for Everton and to top it all we will be paying half his wages nice one CITY

we are not paying half his wages

Gareth Barry was our Quiet Man, He just got on with the job, no dramatics and he was a great servant of the club, remember he has only gone out on loan and is therefore officially still a City player.

Great article. I am going to miss Barry, he often received underserved criticism on here. He was a top shelf player who deserved to play on this team.

How the Championship winning side of 68 has been immortalised (and rightly so) it will eventually happen to the class of 2012

Todays society deems it the norm to criticise individuals - alot of Blues are guilty of this, I mean why would we criticise a team who gave us so much pleasure that season??

Gareth Barry was immense at City and made as big a contribution to the team that season as Hart, Kompany, Yaya and Aguero.

If he never wins another medal in his career, Gareth Barry is an FA cup winner and a Premiership winner - and he achieved that at our club.

Good luck GazBaz

Great servant to city.loved the way he "just got on with it" he was part of the revolution.good luck and thanks to him.CTID

but he is on loan for the rest of the season, after which he is out of contract, so he will not be a City player again, more's the bleeding pity

-- Tue Sep 03, 2013 11:44 pm --

Knob post
Fukin harsh leighton .

Not harsh, just plain fucking wrong

I was sorry to see him absent from our recent matchday squads and with Kompany out wonder if he could have been more usefully employed - although playing with 20/20 hindsight and not being the manager (because we'd be in real trouble if I had to line 'em up and send 'em out) it's impossible for me to judge..

very nicely written article, and all the best to him

- as I hope he helps Everton take points off EVERYONE else they play this season (when he's in their team) as one of our former largely unsung heroes and a solid stalwart of our championship-winning midfield, if not quite with Nigel de Jong's kung-fu kick or cache, ehehe

;o)

Major fuck up here City. Couldn't care less how much he was on, he has been a major part of our first team for the past few years now and never got anywhere near the credit Yaya, Vinnie, Sergio or Silva got. Reminds me exactly of Garry Cooks "doesn't roll off the tongue" comment. So what if he was a slow, unfashionable, fat arsed English midfielder? He was OUR slow, unfashionable, fat arsed English midfielder who only had one job to do but was brilliant at it.

All the best Gaz Baz, take 6 points off the rags for us.

Gaz Baz was shit, Mancini was a ****... I sometimes wonder wtf some so called fans have been watching for the last few years. These people will go down in our club history.

Wayne7, if you are really in Australia then you are one of the people that a pundit (can't remember which one) was referring to, not in a derogatory way or being horrible, when they said if you only see the TV pictures you don't see the runs, the positional play and the reading of the game. When you are lucky enough to attend the match in person you see the contribution Gaz Baz makes.

If you can get the Blue Tuesday webcast from tonight and hear the tribute by Radio Manchester's Ian Cheeseman you will see what I mean. It was a great show.

Can we not just ban Wayne71... clearly a rag on the wind up, if not he should be embarrassed to call himself a blue... clueless twat
I Think what wayne 7 meant to say was Gaz Baz was shit? Mancini was a ****...?
