...In which case, Derby have a choice to make. Championship or Youth Cup. Or maybe no choice at all if transfer rumours linking Hughes with City have any truth in them.

Does Will Hughes still qualify for Derby, because their first team is away at Sheff Weds on the same day?

surely first team takes priority, I remember when sturridge missed a semi final (i think) after being called up by Pearce and we were knocked out

in the year we won it he missed the second leg of the final after being called up.

in both times i don't think he played more than a handful of minutes

he got injured playing for the 1st team at sunderland, he came on, won a pen then went off, all in about ten mins

he got injured playing for the 1st team at sunderland, he came on, won a pen then went off, all in about ten mins

We lost the final in 2006 and Pearce played Micah Richards in a meaningless Premier League game and left him out of the 1st leg final at Anfield where we lost 3-0.
The first leg was a Friday and the 1st team played at West Ham the following day.
We leathered them in the second leg with Richards and even Steve Highway the Liverpool manager admitted he couldn't believe his team only lost 2-0 on the night.

I thought Sturridge actually got injured in the first leg of the final against Chelsea??
Edit, just checked and yes he did play against Sunderland between the two legs)
