AgueroooOOOO!!! I swear you'll never see anything
Obviously it's very difficult to tell based on the limited amount most of us have probably seen them play but from what you know do you think the following players can 'make the grade' and be first team regulars?

Yes/No/Don't know

Ben Mee
Greg Cunnigham
John Guidetti
Kieran Trippier
Jeremy Hélan (arrived to much hubbub if you remember)
Joan Angel Roman
Harry Bunn

I'm not sure if the last two have even played in the reserves so admittedly very few people might be able to answer for them.

Also feel free to add players.

Ben Mee (No)
Greg Cunnigham (No)
John Guidetti (No)
Kieran Trippier (No)
Jeremy Hélan (Not seen enough of him)
Joan Angel Roman (Not seen enough of him)
Harry Bunn (Possible rotation but not regular, banging them in at u18 level)

We haven't got too strong a stock in the EDL at the moment, especially the right back. But still a good trip down Hyde to support the boys.

We should always support and invest in all levels of youth development, leaving no stone unturned. With our current ownership and leadership, i have every faith this will be done correctly.

At the quality we're looking for, what are the chances that anything we produce in this academy will equal players like Dzeko or Silva? Probably none.

Maybe Roman. The rest I doubt.

we have a very strong under 16 side this year, in fact 9 of the players have already been offered scholarships. and i expect a couple more will be offered them too. George Evans and Devante Cole (Andy's lad) look 2 of the best prospects.

Ben Mee - No
Greg Cunnigham - No
John Guidetti - No
Kieran Trippier - No
Jeremy Hélan (arrived to much hubbub if you remember) - No
Joan Angel Roman - Possibly
Harry Bunn - Possibly

I am very curious. What do you think of those working with the youth within the club's academy system? That is a little depressing to see everyone here in this thread pretty much agreeing with no's for most of these players.

Just been completely overhauled mate, for that very reason!

Unfortunately, one of the byproducts of our drastic improvement is we won't have as many academy kids coming through. but really, seeing as we've produced a lot of decent but not great players, i think it will be a wake up call. We can only produce the best now if we want them to get into the first team, not just get the best out of average players. also, people forget about those who've made their debuts, like boyata, cunningham, ibrahim, and nimely, how do people think they'll end up? wish i could see more of ibrahim as he's looked a good player from the limited amount i've seen, and it seems cunningham's injury has come at a really bad time in his development

You can't write lads off this early in their development. I think a few of these will make the grade, but it may take them a year out on loan to make that final push.

A few seasons ago the same would've probably been said of Boyata, Ibrahim and Nimely and they've made that step up to some extent.

EDS I think you mean, unless we have our own branch of the English Defence League.

LoL^

I've been impressed with boyata (bar the arsenal red) Ibrabhim and Guidetti... I feel they could make a mark on our first team if given the chance... which for guidetti is highly unlikely given the amount of competition.
why was he loaned out for only a month btw? what will a month do in his development?

Yes/No/Don't know

Ben Mee - Yes, left sided defender very organised, doesnt panic
Greg Cunnigham - Yes, understudy to Kolarov when he recovers, Mancini seems to like him, good going forward aswell
John Guidetti - Yes, is almost the complete forward, can score header, tap in and screamer also has some skills to show off
Kieran Trippier - Yes, he's the type of player we're missing hes a 5'11 right back good in the air even better with his feet, and very skillful
Jeremy Hélan - No/Maybe, like Ronaldo used to be very skillful no end product
Joan Angel Roman - YES! David Silva's love child
Harry Bunn - Maybe, great poacher and has some good skill

My Adds;

Courtney Meppen-Walter - Yes, can play anywhere on the left side, has been playing for England u17's, is also 6'3 already
Alex Henshall - Yes, Messi style left winger (im not saying hes the next Messi just that he plays like him) plays with Courtney for England
Devante Cole - Maybe, Andy Cole's lad recently called up to England u16's
George Evans - Maybe, Ronnie Evan's lad very good defensive midfielder plays with Courtney for England
Louis Hutton - Maybe, one of the lads bought from Leeds, The Next Steven Gerrard heard it here first, plays with Courtney for England u17's
Ellis Plummer - Maybe, left back or centre back, tall and skillfull, loves a tackle, plays for England u17's
Shay Facey - Maybe, like Plummer only on the right side, loves a tackle, plays for England u16's

I'm not sure if the last two have even played in the reserves so admittedly very few people might be able to answer for them.

If they're good enough then they'll make it always been the case just now home grown player's will need to be top class prospects to get in. simples.

Ben Mee No
Greg Cunnigham No
John Guidetti No
Kieran Trippier No
Jeremy Hélan (arrived to much hubbub if you remember) Don't know
Joan Angel Roman Possibly, possibly not
Harry Bunn No

My veiws below, for what they are worth!

Ben Mee - Yes, But Probably Not At City- Very comfortable on the ball and excellent reader of the game. Been hampered a lot by injuries recentley, and maybe lacking a bit of pace for the higher reaches of the Premier League. Key time for him now at Leicester- if he can establish himself, has all the attributes to be a quality central defender, and with 'home-grown' rule may be kepf as back-up, especialy if the likes of Ned & Mich move on.

Greg Cunnigham - Yes, But Highley Unlikely At City- Greg's problem is that he only plays one position, so was always unlikely to get many chances from the bench, as Boyata, Zab & Lescott offer more versatility. Very highly thought of at the club, but with recenet major injury probably going to have to move on.

John Guidetti - Yes, But Not At City- Thinks he is a lot better than he actually is, although undoubtedly has talent. Still refusing to sign a new contract (ala Sturridge), after Hughes cock-up of only giving him a very short extention- likely to become the next big thing in Spain or Italy next season unfortunatley.

Kieran Trippier - Yes- will be given a chance next season, but needs injurys and suspensions of others to work in his favour. Tenacious defender, who can also play on the wing. One of the best crossers of a football at the club (including all current first team!). Excellent distribution, and clever footballer. Having a fantastic season at Barnsley, where he is already favourite to get player of the year.

Jeremy Hélan - Very Unlikely- hasnt progressed as expected, however still some hopes he may be a late developer... gifted footballer, but seems to lack drive needed to succeed.

Joan Angel Roman - Jury Still Out- Class footballer in the Fabregas mould, who has struggled with niggling 'growing' injurys. Not ready this season, and make or break time next year- expected to figure in preseason games, and will home to be fighting for place on the bench and European games as back-up to Silva.

Harry Bunn - Maybe- natural goalscorer at this level, but has to fight past other youngsters, Balotelli, Nimley & Gudetti (if he stays!) to get a chance.. maybe a loan next season to get a chance to impress.

Been to seen the youth (under 18's) a few times this year.

Juan Roman looks a classy little player.

Someone who stood out for me was Albert Rusnak. Watched him against Everton, and he always seemed to have time and never gave the ball away. Very impressive.

Harry Bunn seems to be the golden by at the moment, and seems strong, quick and a good shot.

Looked a cracking little player mate. Had that knack of creating himself some space, and every ball found someones feet.

Went to watch them against liverpool, but he didn't play, but saw him with the coaches when we went to get a brew (I'm not stalking him).

actual natural ability then, something we haven't really had in our academy lads for a while.
