Youtube Sucks

'Adblock Plus' says hi.
A potentially good solution for some users; not going to help if you're watching youtube with a streaming device (e.g., Apple TV).

Plus, Youtube knows about ad blockers and will seek to prevent them from working... it's an arms race and I suspect that Youtube will win.

Anyone else notice the massive recent increase in ads when viewing Youtube? It's fucking awful. Worse than watching commercial TV.

It's recently to the point that a 1 hour Youtube viewing session mandates about 25 minutes of unskippable commercial content (or maybe more).

With any luck whatsoever another platform will emerge to offer Youtube competition. Fucking waste of my time to watch commercials for 25%+ for the content I'm interested in.
I think some time ago they quite deliberately upped the ads to make their premium subscription (ad free) option more attractive.

Unless I'm very mistaken, I doubt it. A bunch of ads are now part of the original content. No way to skip.

But if "Brave" is able to skip non-content ads, I'll probably give it a try. On the other hand, I watch a bunch of Youtube using Apple TV's app. Brave won't do me any good there.
I use Google Chrome for all my browsing...except for YouTube, for which I use Brave. And I also use Brave to watch the live football...it's good for the streaming channels, too. Blocks loads of crap. They keep it updated to keep ahead of YouTube and any updates they make with ads.
If you're on a PC, have both Chrome and Brave.

Getting behind a joke now, used to be 5 secs then skip now 20,35 and even 55! Things are becoming unwatchable on tv app, apple etc, I rarely watch them on my pc so no ad blocker unfortunately. Going to try and get a Turkey account apparently they haven’t been blocked yet.

Do you use Spotify or other similar music streaming service? If so, consider changing to YouTube Music. I use it mostly because you get YouTube Premium too, so no ads.....i listen to a lot of music and watch a lot of YouTube and think its really really good.

The YT Music algorithms have helped me discover loads of new artists/bands....and once your YT Premium is up and running i find the feed/recommendations for videos brilliant too

Noticed it yesterday actually. Absolutely terrible with ads now. It’s just so tedious. I’ll give if a swerve when I can from now on.

There are some programmes that are scheduled for two hours. If we record it and then whizz it on past the adverts it rarely reached 90 mins. And 99% of the adverts are unwatchable, let alone a vehicle for persuading to buy summat.
