I like Micah, in fact I championed him upto the summer as 1st choice rb, but if he was fit then he would have played tonight and rested zab. Because Micah can't stay fit for more than 1 week we are fucked.

A new rb in jan, Micah to be let go in the summer. Zab and new rb to fight it out

I think you have posted the thoughts of most Blues regarding Micah,we'd love nothing more than for him to stay fit as he can be awesome and he's also a great character .

However...... we cant afford to keep hoping and kidding ourselves, its very unfortunate but we need a reliable replacement asap.

Il genuinely be gutted to see him go as will most blues!

Tough call. From a footballing perspective, Milner would allow us to keep the same shape and everyone would be comfortable on the ball, whereas with Boyata you sense the others will be thinking they're carrying him.

From a club perspective, we should stick with Boyata. Being overtaken now by a midfielder might damage his confidence, and it would send out the wrong signal to our young players.

Heart says Boyata, head says Milner, but sooner or later we're going to have to grasp the nettle.
Shay facey solves both problems, sends out a good message to the younglings while giving us a right back who's good on the ball, good going forward and solid defensively

Let's go 3-5-2 Milner Right Wing Back and Kolorov Left Wing Back?

Maybe but Scott Parker's got a decent long pass and I'd worry that he could pick out their wingers who'd get a lot of space to run in to. Pellegrini seems a bit cautious with his selections but I'd like to see him chuck one of the kids in at right back and then trust the rest of the team to batter them. If we play as well as we can then we should be able to pen them in around their own box for most of the game.

The kid has never even been on the bench for a league cup game and you want to throw him in the first team for a must win premier league match?

While three at the back would seem to make sense given our available players (not to mention the fact that we get our width from attacking fullbacks playing in wingback type roles on offense most of the time anyway) I'm afraid that if we looked so damn uncomfortable and lost trying to play that way under Mancini then we just might not take to it this time around either. I have a lot of confidence in Pellegrini but I feel like our center halves aren't into it at all.

I wish we could make it work though. (Milner--DeMichelis-Kompany-Lescott--Kolarov) It's perfect for James, it frees Kolarov up to attack even more, and for all the shit Lescott has gotten (much of it deserved) he can be an imposing physical presence at the back when on form.. and even if you weren't thinking of him, you have Nasty coming back soon.

That would be rather drastic, but as you say, it's a must win game (all games henceforward are) so when are young players to be given an opportunity? The right back situation has been a problem in the offing for two seasons now, and the club has failed to address it.

you want to play somebody out of position or that's not good enough rather than give one of our most promising young players a chance? when else is he supposed to get his chance, when we don't have 11 fit senior players?
