City are lining up a third big money raid on Spanish football as they turn up the heat in the summer transfer market.

The Blues could land Yaya Toure from Barcelona next week, hope to persuade David Silva to accept a £29m move from Valencia after the World Cup – and are ready to revisit their interest in Nou Camp ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The big Swedish striker appeared to be a no-go for the Blues when Barca stated last month they would not sell the man they bought from Inter Milan in a staggering deal worth £56m last summer.

But Barca are still chasing Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, Liverpool’s Fernando Torres, Valencia’s Juan Mata and are said to be interested in City star Robinho.

After signing David Villa, the Catalan giants have indicated they may be prepared to sell Ibrahimovic to fund their spree, opening up the intriguing prospect of a player-plus-cash deal for Robinho.

The Brazilian ace’s agent Evandro da Souza and his father Gilvan da Silva met with City officials in Manchester yesterday for an “amicable” meeting about the player’s future.

Their prime aim – to try to get the £32.5m buy’s loan spell at Santos extended beyond August, is believed to have been rebuffed.

But City are expected to allow the agent to tout Robinho’s services to any clubs interested – and that includes Barcelona.

Permission

City are also interested in Barca target Torres but the Liverpool striker appears to have indicated that the lack of Champions League football kills any chance of a move.

The Blues are hoping that their moves in the market will persuade some of Europe’s top stars that they are just one season away from competing with the continent’s elite clubs.

The deal for Toure could be wrapped up early next week, with the big midfielder’s Ivory Coast side set to exit the World Cup after today’s game against North Korea, unless they score a hatful of goals and Brazil do the same against Portugal.

The two clubs have agreed a fee, understood to be around £26m, and Toure has been tempted by the prospect of playing alongside big brother Kolo and by a £120,000-a-week deal.

City also hope that manager Roberto Mancini can charm Silva into accepting a four-year contract offer believed to be worth around £155,000 a week.

They hope to talk to the player over the weekend, following Spain’s final group game against Chile.
Valencia have denied a deal is in place for Silva, although they have given the Blues permission to speak to their player.

The Spanish club’s vice-president Javier Gomez said: “There has been interest from City but we have no agreement on a figure.”

Reports suggest that Chelsea are set to hijack the Silva deal, but Valencia have not given any other club the right to speak to their player.

can't see barca wanting him now, looks like their after mata, can honestly see robi being farmed out on loan again as his mind ain't here and i don't think that they'd want his attitude affecting any of the new playing staff, IMO anyway. Shame really as attacking wise, got to be one of the best when on form.

Falls apart at the end. That Gomez bloke has already stated that Silva is free to negotiate his future with other clubs, meaning they hadn't exclusively given us the right to speak to him. He has been free to discuss with other clubs aswell as us.

If Robinho was the main source of the funding for Ibrahimovic then I'd take a chance and get the deal done.

Robinho's a little sh!t for thinking it's OK to ask to go back on loan to Santos because they can't afford to buy him. Does he not understand that we're paying him millions of pounds a year to play for us?

Get him back and get him in the reserves if he won't pull his weight. We don't need the money and I don't see why we should pay him to play for someone else.

Excellent player. One of the best. If we dont win the league this year, sign him and we will win it next year.

good player but a poor version of dzeko

LMFAO HAHAHAH LOL TEL US YOU'RE JOING, THIS IS THE FUNNIEST THING I'VE EVER READ ON HERE HAHAHAHAHAHAH LOL, DAFT MATE, DAFT!!

Ibra would have been a great signing a few years ago, but not today. He is a really good player, but he is not a team player. Ibra plays for Ibra and if you don't like it, fuck off. He would demand to start every game, and to be at top of the pecking order.

That should be your signature Tevez City, that way we wouldn't have to post it after every single post you make.

All he appeared to do last night was fall over. Pretty good at that though.

223 goals and 88 assists in 467.
You should watch him for his club occasionally, admittedly he is often poor against English sides.

At every club and in every season since 2001/02 he's been league champion, that remains an unbelievable stat and with Juventus showing signs of bottling Serie A to Milan another year could be added to that.

Ibra at his worst is one of the most frustrating and unlikeable players there is. But at his best Dzeko has never and may never be in the same league of quality as him. He is unplayable at his very best and he still shows that best quite a lot (ie. first leg against Arsenal where everyone was bouncing off him), even if you get the bad days too and his tendency to get sent off.

However in 2012 I'd still rather have Dzeko as he's younger and willing to work harder, which is important in England where I think Ibra would not enjoy the style.
