I posted something similar to this, about 3 months ago.

In the past 3 years or so, R2 really has gone down the pan. Half it's playlists can be heard on R1, so why are they playing it on R2?. I don't hear Prokofiev on R2, because it's on R3. I don't hear plays on R2, because they're on R4. Likewise sport, because that's on 5Live, so why is R2 constantly playing auto tuned, nasaly RnB shit (usually a woman warbling that "she's over you"), that's already covered, elsewhere. They're trying for a late teen to mid 20s audience, but that demographic don't listen to R2

Then there's the presenters
Feltz. GOBSHITE, who thinks dropping big words into her spiel, makes her sound intellectual. It doesn't.

Ball. Gushes over everybody, with constant "darling, beautiful, gorgeous, love that girl". Then there's her overly camp side kick. Just read the traffic, FFS.

Bruce. Legend. Give him a knighthood.

Vine. Stupid, middle class, bedwetting mummy's boy, that's a champagne socialist.

Wright. Please stop, now. Like the daft uncle at a family party, everybody thinks he's a berk. Same act he was doing 30 odd years ago. Then there's that dullard who witters on about homeopathy. Fuck off.

Cox. The scatty Northern bird act is wearing thin.

Whiley. GOBSHITE, who "handpicks her playlist" and "curates her shows". Plus, anyone who starts sentences with the word "Hey", and is in their 50's, needs to be shot.

Nelson. I don't like his taste in music, so I don't listen

I listen to XS Manchester and then at 1030 tune in for pop master on radio 2 with Sir Kenneth of Bruce before returning to XS.

I'm an XS radio fan myself mate, always a good mix on there. I also like Absolute radio. Radio 2 is ok, well was ok. Not listened to it recently.

An excellent summing up and assessment of the situation. Ken Bruce an absolute legend. The rest of the weekday line up pretty much as you stated. Ive always said they should not be playing stuff you can hear on radio one, I just do not see the point. Most radio 2 listeners are of a certain age and do not want to hear music from 'new' artists that can be heard on radio one, so why do they do it ? No problem with new stuff from artists of our generations.

With regards to the presenters only Ken is worth a listen in terms of entertainment. Ball, Cox and wright utterly dire and Jo Whiley in the evenings trying to be trendy and playing the most obscure rubbish from 'alternative' type artists. Unlistenable ! Things improve slightly at the weekends, when we get some Tony Blackburn and Jonny Walker plus Gambo with pick of the pops, although Dermot O Dreary is another one I just cannot listen to, unfunny and crap music along the lines of Whiley.

I would like to see the listening figures compared to a few years ago, I bet they have dropped dramatically.

I forgot about Dermot, as you say, O'Dreary. Fuck me he's the living breathing definition of the word soporific.
