Solid def mid. Can't be compared to yaya not should he. Think Gaz Baz with more physical attributes. We have to have someone at some point to be able to get the ball to the 48 attackers.

He played well today for Portugal again. Class player good value. No surprise then to see him linked again this evening. Centre mid for me needs a body more than centre back. Citywatch saying Pere is in Lisbon to negotiate a deal for him
Ye I watched that game today and he did look ok but he seems to slow and lazy to play In the Prem.
Doesn't need pace to be a def mid. We have that by the bucket load. Also good relationship with Bernardo by the looks of it.
He has plenty to be good in the prem. He's just 25 and has a bucket load of caps and a euro championship winners medal and a wealth of CL experience

Pep knows this deep-lying midfield position inside out. It was his position as a player, it was his decision to replace the experienced Yaya with an inexperienced Busquets there, and it was his decision to buy a 30 odd year old Alonso at Bayern and put him in that position.

He's definitely slow as shit. But Alonso and Busquets are snails as well. It seems Pep doesn't rate pace in his pivot, but rather passing and link up play. Carvalho certainly fits the bill in that regard.
Whether that style will work in the premier league remains to be seen.
