That article was written by Steve Bates (a rag), who incidentally, is married to the daughter of David Meek the former United journo @ the MuEN.

I know Steve from back in the day, and he admitted to me on one occasion (many years ago) that if he had nothing to write about, he would just fabricate stories.

Not exactly a huge surprise there, but what I'm saying is that anything written about City by Mr Bates should be taken with a huge pinch of salt.
