Sunday 4pm games no longer. Now all 4.30pm. Only 30 minutes I grant you but on a Sunday that will make those using trains etc just a little more limited.
Wait till you get them maxing out the bank holiday package that they haven't sold yet (largely because it is less valuable to the channels than the PL figured because they have to split their audience by showing several of the 20 games they are buying simultaneously).
As a result on Boxing Day they will want games at 1200 , 1430, 1700, and 1930 or even five slots if they can fit them in and on other days around Christmas to try to screen as many of the 10 games from that round they are buying at separate times,
This will be great for City fans having to travel to Southampton at midnight on Christmas Day to make the KO whoever wins sets for the game.
The only way they will get more money (the reason they haven't sold them yet is likely they are not being offered enough because of having to show too many of these matches at the same time) will be to spread them over a full week for the packs not the holiday one - so ordinary Tuesday/Wednesday mid week matches as we had the other week when everyone played on those two nights.
At a minimum the channels will want to play Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday that week. Maybe Monday or Friday too and be pushing for 6 pm and 8 pm KOs to try to show most of the 10 games in separate slots.
The FA might have to give in to the channels on some of this to get them to pay as much as they want because they just are not worth much to BT or Sky if you have to show all the games you have bought at the same time in just two slots.
This is why CL knock out games are now spread out over weeks to maximise TV slots and the income paid for the rights because they get extra marketing slots denied if they are all shown today and tomorrow.
