Pep Guardiola will have to lead Manchester City's charm offensive to keep Alexis Sanchez out of the clutches of Manchester United. [@MullockSMirror]

A City source to Daily Mirror: “United are willing to pay more but the belief is that Sanchez would prefer a move to City for professional reasons.

The deal that's been proposed is too expensive when the fee Arsenal are demanding is included.”

The belief is that an appeal to Sanchez would be successful.

City feel a deal with Arsenal can still be negotiated if Sanchez makes it clear to Emirates bosses that he views a move to the Etihad as his only option. [Mirror]

Sanchez's advisers are looking for a £15m signing-on bonus in the belief that Arsenal's £35m asking price is not excessive.

City are willing to offer £20m + £5m in add-ons – and have made it clear they are not ready to go head-to-head financially with United. [Mirror]
15 mill signing on bonus.! Wtf.

35 million from us. Arsenal and Sanchez work out how they want to divvy it up.

No one has a clue what’s going on because that’s how city do it - not pimping ourselves around for exposure like that bunch of twats

That article pretty much sums up the 500 pages on here today!

I think it looks like Sanchez wants out now and he has got to be convinced by Pep that we really want him as our refusal to up the money to what he might think is a fair amount for himself could be viewed almost as an insult by the player. Though we are doing it for other reasons he should understand.

You can see why he is wavering and really might see United as his only way out as Arsenal clearly will take the money, his agent will, and if he thinks City are just after forcing Arsenal to get him on the cheap he could weaken over coming days.

We obviously hope he will not if he really wants to come to City and are gambling on Pep keeping his spirits up.

Could go either way and might stay like that for some time unless Arsenal want it sorted to sign Malcolm quickly.

If he goes to the rags he chooses money over potential to win things this season. He also gambles on then becoming better than us next season. He has played for pep and will know that will take some doing. If money talks when City are in the position they are right now then he isnt a player we want anyway.

Some Jonathan Shrager who apparently leaks united starting 11's ahead of time says he's going to united. I don't know what to believe anymore. Sometimes I feel we put to much trust in players words, like Alves. Need to get them to sign, not just gentleman's agreements.

Mullock was the first to report that City wouldn’t match Arsenal/agent’s demands, well before the club briefing, so hopefully we can take heart from this:

“The belief is that an appeal to Sanchez would be successful.”

Guardiola’s certainly not been shy in directly contacting players in the past.
