Saw the LA dodgers once, absolute shit! What a boring game. For a country who love things fast and action packed i do not understand how they invented this and american football. I still enjoyed myself though, it was all you can eat hotdogs and i got dead dead pissed

It's a very social game, you need to go with a few mates, have a laugh and bud or five and it's a great night out. Go and your own and you'll be off your tits with boredom.

Stopped reading after that comment......

they didn't invent baseball

Wasn't it the Brits?
That's what I heard anyway, the Pilgrim fathers must have fancied a game of rounders in the middle of the night, hence the attire.
Seriously, I was in America when the Red sox won that famous victory, it was a great atmosphere.

Little league is the best one to watch. They hit the ball way more often because of the slower pitching.

"The Little League Baseball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for boys and girls ages 9–12

Are you Pete Townsend?

Aha no... I think there was a little league World Series or something along those lines in 2005ish and the games seemed to get wall to wall coverage so it was impossible to miss really.

Booked tickets to see the Mets play the Phillies at the end of August but haven't got a clue what the fuck is going on.

Any of our US fans give me a quick guide or something to read?

All you need to know is that they actually bring the beer to YOU at your seat. You are allowed to drink beer while watching thegame!! Imagine that. What a radical idea! thats the good news. The bad news is that its shite Budweiser.

Baseball is a great sport. Many countries around the world will agree. If I am around at that time, I would love giving you a tutorial at the game!! I live about 4 miles from Citifield.....

In Philadelphia or NYC? Philadelphia fans of all sports have a reputation. Their old football team (gridiron) had a jail underneath the seating. Not long ago some "kids" they were men in their 20's, decided to get drunk and make themselves vomit on a 10 year to old girl seated in front of them because they thought it would be funny. Her family were also Phillies fans.

They save the life threats for fans of opposing teams. I love baseball but fans of Philadelphia teams treat opposition supporters poorly. One of my mates is from Philly. He told me everyone from Philly thinks they can fight just by virtue of being from Philadelphia. It could be like a City away match where you are sitting in the home section if you decide to support the Mets. Be smart and be alert. Have a great time.

Philly fans are known for being worse than savages. Think Millwall without the racist bent. Hell, one year they even booed Santa Claus......

Christ, that was almost 60 years ago, and by all accounts he was so drunk he could barely stand. Stop listening to ESPN so much

The Phillies-Mets pretty tame now. I've been to Citi field (Mets stadium) in my Phillies gear, and with Mets fans at CBP (Phillies stadium) multiple times in the past few years and never had a problem at either. Both are beautiful stadiums in great cities and you'll be fine wherever you go.

Philly fans have a reputation and were bad in the past, but it's so overblown now it's ridiculous. Unless you go to an Eagles (NFL Team) game wearing a Giants/cowboys jersey and are being obnoxious the whole time, you'll be fine. It's no worse then some other cities, especially in the northeast. Actually LA was the scariest I've even been to in terms of supporting a visiting team.

My teams - 1. Red Sox
2. Falcons

Four years ago I went to a Montgomery Biscuits game - decent stadium, minor league team who were a feeder for the Florida Marlins I seem to recall. Concessions had some decent bottles of American micro brewery beer which pleasantly surprised me. Game was abandoned because a tornado hit and we all had to shelter for an hour in the underground toilets. Hotel was a couple of blocks away and had suffered some minor damage. An interesting experience.

I remember a Cincinnati Diamondbacks game back in '84.
Pat Bennet stepped up to bat, and after 20 stolen bases in ''82 and 13 in '83 he certainly had a point to prove. His arch nemesis Jerry McGall was up to pitch...1st ball was a foul, 2nd was a swing and a miss and the 3rd...oh the 3rd, you should of seen that apple fly. Corey Helford went for the catch and that boy is fast as shit, but even he couldnt get to it. The ball went out and clinched the Diamonbacks first world series since 1912.
The guys at the company picnic had to pay up a cool 50 bucks a piece after that one
