They might need an injection after tonight's performance. A better second half if truth be told, but too many passes going astray and two misses that the perpetrators wouldn't want to see on video!. We had four corners in the first two minutes and then the first shot on goal the Frankfurters score. Keira, not one of her best games, got dispossessed in our half and the back line did a wonderful imitation of Italian or French tanks and retreated to give the Fraulein ample time to shoot into the corner. Their second goal was bit of a shambles, over the line, kicked out but thumped back in again. About the only thing our goalie had to do in the first half was pick the ball out twice. Nicky Parris looked to be upto speed and the centre of the back line was solid enough but little in the midfield and a bit wasteful upfront.

I always get the impression that the German teams are slightly ahead of the UK, both in fitness and speed.

Mrs Vienna had it on her iPad, and we only saw some of the second half, but my impression was that City were the better team.
1. FFC Frankfurt is one of the best women's clubs in Europe. Since 98/99, they've only finished outside the top three of the Bundesliga once, and that was fourth in 08/09. In that time, they have been champions seven times.
Not a bad test for our girls.

Bearing in mind we lost the last friendly 4 nil iy was abit depressing to be 2 nil down against a good side but they hadn't really attacked much to get that lead. Ok it's pre season for the ladies and at times it looked like it the way we gave the ball away so easily.The movement up front was pretty poor and with little or no creativity from midfield it was mostly long balls that got us into half decent positions.
Jane Ross, Izzy, Tony D,Tess were all very peripheral.We did have some half chances but the usual compleyer lack of composure made it look like we would never score. Second half the movement was better and the whole team played better and as a result we should have won but boy on boy the finishing. Izzy with basically nobody to beat missed from about 10 yards basically because she can't kick the ball with her left foot ( properly). A great run from Toni D should have been a goal but it ended with a panic shot with only the keeper to beat. The ball didn't even go out of play!
There were other chances not so clear cut that we messed up with no composure until Parris's great run and goal and for a change some composure. Lucy was up and down as usual but defensively was taken to the cleaners a few times which is rare. Sadly for the keeper I think we would have won if Karen Bardsley had been in goal. Both very soft efforts she would have saved imo.

We won the second half 1-0 but could and should have won it 3-0 for a 3-2. Frankfurt were neat and tidy and moved the ball well. I couldn't pick out one Frankfurter who wasn't comfortable on the ball with decent technique but still one of those games we should have won given the chances and the share of possession!
