Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Decisive action from UEFA. Declaring that they're going to have a meeting next week.

It's obviously really popular to just have a massive shit on UEFA, but if they're discussing delaying or cancelling a tournament as big as the Euros, with serious impact to 12 different countries, or trying to work out the possibilities or ramifications of delaying it by 12 months....that's not a meeting you can just have on the fly, get the lads round the conference table in Nyom tomorrow 9 am..

They're supposedly about to announce that the CL and Europa are suspended, so why would they rush into a meeting about Euro 2020 tomorrow?

Going by this logic we are never going to restart mass gatherings ever. The virus is always going to be in the population and there will always be people who've not caught it yet.

What you're advocating is football and all mass gatherings never happen again and it's declared right now.

Or we could just do what the sensible people already are doing, suspending for a month until we can make better informed decisions.

Please tell me where I advocated never letting mass gatherings happen again, ( I didn't), decisions need to be taken now, that's what the Chinese did.

Because there is a global pandemic. It doesn’t matter how, but in situations with this severity level and ramifications you just make it happen. Simple as that. Next week is a long, long way away in a scenario like this one.

Stop making excuses for them.

The competition is in 3 months. The next internationals games scheduled are in 3 weeks.

Why do you think they need to make a decision today?

There is nothing gained by making a decision about the euros straight away.

Don't you think it would give the European professional leagues plus the CL/Euro Cups more flexibility in rescheduling after their postponements?
