Absolutely spot on. Taggart will be forced to back down because he is so clearly in the wrong and will be pressured to do so but he will never forgive or forget that Rio has undermined him (as he sees it - he wouldn't understand a principled stand if it hit him in the arse).
Therefore, given Rio's declining utility, he will be shipped off to the glue factory at the first opportunity.
