Watch my lips: Thaksin had nothing to do with it and in fact nearly fucked up the sale completely.

Ok then,if it was nothing to do with TS, how did Sheikh come about Buying our club ? Who suggested City to The Sheikh ?

This post suggests (ridiculously) that the current owners (as individuals and as a collective organisation) are so naive, stupid and easily manipulated that they just sit about on their pile of cash waiting for various people to come to them and tell them that they should throw a load of money at this football club, that watchmaker or this newagents.

Are you honestly trying to suggest that the idea of investing in a football club had never crossed their mind until this wanker got on the phone and told them what they should do and that they wouldn't have the first idea as to which clubs might be a suitable investment, with the potential for development?

Is your opinion of them that low? It seems to be.

That they invest based on whatever self interested ideas are presented to them, rather than after conducting painstaking, professional and lengthy investigations, considerations and discussion as to how such investments fit into their long term aims? That investing in football or City was something that they just 'went along with' after never considering it before a corrupt and devious politician told them it was a good idea?

Was Sheik Mansour just sat about on a golden sofa, making a scale model of Buckingham Palace with wads of cash when he picks up the phone and old Thaksin was in it? "Hello, Sheiky, I own a football club and it is a great investment. Never mind that you have never heard of it, never conducted any research of your own into football investment and don't know who Manchester City are - I am telling you they are great so I suggest you look into it."

"Thanks Frank, even though I haven't the first fucking clue about any of this and even though I've never thought about football or what clubs might make a good investment, I'll look into this and, if it sounds half decent, wire over an obscene amount of money and spend billions over the next few years. Just on a whim. You know, something to keep m occupied if I'm bored. Thank fuck you suggested this to me. Otherwise I'd never have thought of it (after all, I've never considered football as an option) and would have had nothing to throw my money away on."

Is that how you imagine the conversation went?

I asked PB a question and he answered, you on the other hand Have shown yourself to be nothing more than a complete dickhead. If you want to carry on being a smart arse pm me.

I hope this comes out in Gary James' new book as it will kill some of these myths about Thaksin once and for all and show just how close to the edge he took us. If we'd gone over it, he's have walked away without a second glance.

I've interviewed most of the key figures and will be quoting some of them in the book "Manchester The City Years" - personally I do know that without Thaksin there wouldn't have been the Abu Dhabi takeover, simply because he made it easier to buy from one person/group rather than the large number of disparate shareholders City had (I've still not cashed in my shares - better do it soon).
Interesting. Without going into detail, as that should be saved for publication, would you say TS was good or bad for our club?

it seems to me as just a random fan of mcfc it appears he was a bit of both. sven was his work as was elano and co, that was the good. after that who knows, bet he had something to do with the sale to our present owners though.

the human rights shit in his homeland is fuck all to with city.

We almost went down and then lost our two best players Barton and Distin.

Everything else being the same I think there was by 1st Sept 2008 it could have easily been Championship football, not Uefa Cup and near the top of the Prem.

I'd have agreed with you a few years ago Bill. I even wrote an article in KOTK which summarised his influence as you just have. It was an interesting & memorable year to be sure but the more I think about it and find out, the more I think he was pure poison. If I was writing that article again the conclusion would be very different.

Is that Philip Schofield on the left?

Very true. I didn't mind that Human Rights shit though as he was nailing drug barons/dealers. Nothing wrong with that atall.

Funny though that some have mentioned that the Sheikh took us over despite TS efforts to scupper the deal. If that were true, TS could've done it in the blink of an eye, ie. No!

Thanks to PB and JMA for saying exactly how I feel about Frank.
I stopped going after I saw the ''Happy Birthday The King Of Thailand'' messages being plastered on the scoreboard - some 6 weeks before his birthday!
I refused to be part of a propaganda exercise - and was very disappointed that the council allowed that Albert Square party to take place, knowing there was a cloud over his regime. But then again, Leese, Karney, Bernstein and co are champagne socialists anyway........ anything for a free party, eh?
